We went for a long walk in the sun along the beach. Wait, I think that the concession stand is open....yes! You’re only serving fries and coffee today? I can live with that 👍

My wife took some, but I still made out okay

Harry Kane and Gareth Bale; they both just happen to play for the best football (or ‘soccer’ for our US friends) team in the world! 😁

Once Kimmich returns from the injured list, I would say the best team in the world right now plays in Munich! Although, the Spurs are a top class team.

C'mon guys, new thread please!

All sorts of things lift people's spirits as we have seen on this thread: family, food, pets, nature, and sports. Why the need to start another thread? Watching my team play, and even the image of my boys lifts my spirits. I have no desire to start an argument, just sharing my perspective. I wish you peace and happiness!

Same to you! I think the wonderful world of football needs its own space is all. Then we can discuss properly things like, what on earth ZZ was thinking of, the way he treated Bale at Real. Perhaps he'll send Modrić back as well, then Spurs really will be back in the glory. I'm outta this thread now, but I really look forward to seeing more sports chat on OF.

Saturday was a good day...delivery from a local specialty food store...

They only get these olives in once a year, around Xmas time, so got a few jars. They are my absolute favourite olives...

And they go well in a Martini...

While watching one of my favourite movies...

Just bloody brilliant!

I can't say I recognize the film ... and you've got to explain the recipe for the purple Martini! (You can't post that photo and leave me curious!)

The movie is "How to get ahead in advertising", from 1989. It's pretty out there, but the performances are superb, and I find it hilarious even 30+ years after I first saw it.

The Martini, well that is simple, gin and vermouth, with an olive or 4 thrown in. The gin is blue (the colour comes from Butterfly pea blossom that is added), as you can see here, but when it mixes there is a chemical reaction that makes it turn pink:

It's a great gin, and my favourite for Martini's. I've also used it in a G&T, but some of the more subtle flavours are lost with the tonic overpowering them...but the pink reaction is even more extreme.

I'll watch the film! And I've never seen that gin before ... another experiment for the holidays! (Best accompanied by a peanut butter and onion sandwich?) 😀
