    I am new.

This is my first (real) watch. I haven't even worn a watch in over a decade. I've done about a weeks worth of cramming on the things I think I need to know about buying a vintage watch, but it's a gift from my wife, so I'm a little concerned about jumping in on the wrong piece.

I've found one that I think has got all the right stuff. I think it's a CK2637. It's got a 351 bumper movement, it's a large size (37mm) and it looks (to my novice eyes) clean and original. Looking for some more experienced opinions. One pic is all I've got. IMG_2470.jpg

    Hi Jay,
welcome to the forum, to me that's a nice looking watch, I like the look of the hands but the second hand doesnt look like it matches. But the guys that know their stuff will be along soon to give you an expert opinion....

hmm, it is hard to know without seeing the inside. is the movement in good condition? is it corroded? rusted? is it the right movement for the watch, or has it been put together from parts?

the hands don't match the picture from the omega vintage database:

There are lots of watches on our sales forum here. Not to blow my own trumpet (actually, I am blowing my own trumpet), but have you looked at:

    which is a similar period.

Watch looks ok to me - hands and dial look original as does the case. This case style housed both center seconds and subseconds bumper movements in both 37.5mm and 35mm sizes.

    Canberra:

Nice watch, but I'm looking for a stainless and a larger size. I've got a big hand / wrist, so prefer a larger watch face.

If Mike reckons its ok, and you like the watch, IMO don't waste any time and buy it Jay, as long as the price is reasonable

    Well, I don't think it's a wholesale price! Canberra's watch is less....

Might be. Should it be in line with the price of Canberra's?

jumbo stainless steel case in decent shape - that's an $800 watch.

    It seems like ref. 2658.

    I don't think is a 37 mm., but I can wrong, of course. :)
