This is coming up at a Sotheby's Australia auction in Melbourne on 4 December.

I have attached the link but if it fails, go to the Sotheby's Australia website: it is worth a look as the preceding 18K gold 1971 Flightmaster from the same collector is pretty stunning.

I am not related to the seller or touting for the watches - I just saw them listed and thought you might like to drool too.

The Flightmaster isn't the easiest to read, but I like the different colors of the subdials compared to the Speedy.

regarding the results and the estimates, they are in Australian Dollars, right, not US$?

I love staring at things I know I won't be able to afford in this lifetime.

Yes, the prices realised are in Australian dollars.

I had a good look at both and enjoyed the feeling of big chunks of gold on my wrist, but would rather have the same models in the stainless steel for which they were designed (not to mention how many other watches I could buy with the money difference).

if there is only one buyer for the two, he or she has a gold mine in the closet.😁
