If you had to predict a sleeping watch giant for 2020...what would it be?

While the love of steel chronos continues and many are moving out of the price range of the ordinary man on the street, expect to see all the alternate brands climb in price. Top Times are still relatively cheap but the prices are climbing. Heuers always seem to be quietly collected and steadily increasing in value. The one that pains me is the ProPlof ... I've been casually looking for a good 600 for the last 18 months and they're just not appearing on the market at the moment. I reckon they're being hoarded because people are seeing a price hike in the near future ... or else everyone collecting them wants dozens apiece.

I'm not omniscient in any way, but feel very strongly that Movado M95s are obscenely undervalued for what they bring. If I had to bet, I think they'll be brought into the spotlight at some point soon. And no, I'm not just saying that because I have a couple of them...there are plenty of other watches that I thought could be "the next one" and upon handling on in person, wrote that notion off. The M95...it's legit. Take my word for it.

+1

Also..i think the best 60s Heuer Carreras and autavia are due for a big bounce. The watches are too good to stay down long

My vote goes for Heuer Autavia鈥檚 and Zenith Chronos...El Primo very under valued I think

I would agree with Vintage Zenith with the El Primero Movement. It's the most iconic automatic chronograph movement of all times, and the prices are low

Not a plug. As am still hoping to add to the collection.
So keen to ensure that prices for a particular fav of mine stay relatively within means.
But the Titus Calypsomatic 馃榾 In particular the 7085 c/w with Big Crown. Preference on gilt dial.
Image stolen from the wonderful https://tituscalypsomatic.com/7085-third-generation/

I've got to be honest - I think the Titus Calypsomatic has reached a peak WAY beyond what it is actually worth. I think they are great looking vintage watches - but not at $5K+

I agree with the above opinions esp. the early Zenith EP. In addition imho the early Breitling Navitimer all black from the 50s and early 60s might increase in value in 2019. They are still quite affordable these days.

Cool site. I like the tribute section about Mr Sinn himself...looks like a man with some stories!

No idea about sleeping giants for 2019, but that is quite a portrait picture.

Maybe the 16570 explorer II, although it does seem to have already started getting more expensive.

Ok bonus....

Hamilton Team Earth aka the Harrison Ford.
One small drawback it鈥檚 43mm but it鈥檚 one hell of a great looking pilot with the big crown and the bonus fluted bezel. From 2010 and relatively unknown.

I see your pilot, and raise you one... by a still privately owned company.

I'm a sucker for Wyler. Always well made. Pick them up almost free. One Hondikeepeepee article away from exploding 馃槈

My guess is the White Side of the Moon, it never gets talked about, in fact I can t remember a single thread written about it since the first one which was, to put it mildly, not very positive. The white side of the moon is the modern equivalent of the Daytona or Milguass. You probably couldn't give it away in a kinder egg.
Which probably means that it will soon hit the dizzy heights of stratospheric prices commanded for other unloved watches and we will all wish we had not turned our noses up at it when we could have bought it for peanuts.

Zenith Prime. Hand wound variant 38mm chrono from the mid to late 90鈥檚. Impossible to search for and basically nothing on the internet about them. Great looking and affordable. Its an El Primero without the auto winding supposedly.
Thanks for sharing, you鈥檙e right, been searching the web for info on these and nothing!

At least there are always a few for sale though.
