https://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-Ro...265920?hash=item3fa468b800:g:uIIAAOSwCyFbP1-T

This is a project watch that was put together using the following parts:

Caseback: aftermarket 16610 Rolex gen-spec case
Midcase: aftermarket 16610 Rolex gen-spec midcase with period correct drilled lug holes and aging.
Dial: Genuine Rolex 16800 matte dial. I believe this is a Mark IV dial. Patina on markers, some of the lume have came off, and a few marks on the dial.
Crown: Genuine Rolex 703 crown
Bezel: Genuine Rolex 16800 bezel assembly. Clicks properly.
Bezel insert: Genuine Rolex 16800 "Fat Four" insert to be period correct with dial. Pip creamy white.
Crystal: Genuine Rolex 16610/16800 295c sapphire crystal. Very clean and scuff free.
Movement: ETA 2836-2 movement with period correct datewheel (open 6 and 9 dates). ~+10 seconds a day. Non-regulated.
Hands: aftermarket period correct hands

Most of the Genuine Rolex parts on this time piece are hard to come by and have been meticulously put together. A Rolex 3135 can be installed into this gen-spec case to make it a more complete project though the watch is keeping very good time as is. I am offering this as a project watch because the owner can take it to the next level with a 3135 movement and genuine 16800 hands.

While he discloses, he still uses some misleading language traps that an uninformed noob can fall right into.

Gee, why am I not surprised?

A few of us long timers have been discussing this - SS Rolex sport watches and vintage Speedmasters are at the center of what's wrong with this hobby.

What would one estimate the "genuine" parts value of this watch would be?
So dial, crown, bezel and insert, crystal....

Add UG Late 50’s/Early 60’s sport and Longines 13ZN to that mix and you have a complete package.

What is a "gen-spec"? It's either genuine or not.

There are many case makers that make cases fitting genuine rolex movements. That's what gen spec means. Many of your cheaper rolex fakes will only fit eta movements, have wrong positioning for the tube, wrong bezel mount height etc.

Very sad, that's why "buy the seller". He's probably dumping the watch as he is unable to bring it to the next "franken" level. It's not easy to find a spare 3135 movement...
