If I were to rob a boutique... it WOULDNT be a Breitling boutique lol

Yesterday the Breitling boutique in Basel, Switzerland had a smash and grab. Think it is pretty obvious the theives arent too savy on what specific Swiss watch brands are valuable. Apparently this was witnessed by a queue of Snoopy moonphase customers at the Swatch boutique across the street. Top comment on my TikTok feed was, "400 Breitling watches stolen totaling $1,600." lmao.

They have fallen a long way from what they once were. Tag Heuer too.

I don't know. I like mine 😉

Not knocking the brand entirely. Just an observation. Brands rise and fall and rise again. Omega was one of THE brands for decades until the quartz crisis and then nearly went out of business. It was a long, slow climb back to where they are now.

I know. I literally took delivery of this just before noon. I was too excited not to post it.

I'd much rather have a Breitling than a plastic moonswatch. I covet the hell out of a good proportion of the Superocean Heritage and Premier collections. I'd beat up my sister for either a Datora or a Duograph.

My Premier daily driver checking in. I freaking love this thing. Big win for them to bring this out of the back catalog.

Thats sharp. I like the matte black dial. Its like a budget friendly GMT Master II you can actually buy same day. 👍

They knew the Rolex boutique wouldn’t have any watches. All they’d find are the waitlists.

They would have skipped the Omega Boutique too. After all, it's an entry level brand. 😁

Yeah that's a dumb robbery - they will have to offer them so cheap that it will cause suspicions just because of that. I wonder if they also stole the box and papers somehow? Will be a bit of a giveaway. How will anyone be sure they aren't fakes?? Really dumb. Little upside, huge downside if caught.

I'm not a fan of Breitling but if I had to choose, these two I always thought looked quite smart:

Really nice looking bracelet on the last one!

Almost all stolen goods end up being dumped for pennies on the dollar when they are fenced, whether they are Breitlings, Longines, JLCs or Omegas. Breitling has a good following among the public and they have done some interesting things the last few years so I wouldn't beat on them, they aren't junk watches. Unfortunately these smash and grab robberies seem to be more prevalent these days.

Love me some Breitling. 90's, early 2000's is where the value for money is at IMO. In the 1-3K range you can get a beast of a watch, with a very well made and comfortable metal bracelet.

New Breitling is way overpriced IMO, for the movement you are getting.

I remember a news article not long ago that some people had robbed only Moonswatches at a store and had left Omegas and other various much more expensive brands… 😲

It's all perception and what is deemed worth stealing. They thieves probably found it easier and more profitable to steal $300 watches than a $6,000 watch.
