If a white dial and black dial PO 8500 had a baby

Picked up this modded PO 8500 a few days ago. Left the factory white dial/white bezel and the owner also bought a grey bezel from a black dial and had it put on the white dial making a striking mod. The original white bezel was included in the sale.

Started life something like this:

Let's look at thickness. I'm not saying it isn't think...it is, but here are a few shots relative to other watches instead of in a vaccuum. This compares the PO, the Heuer Autavia and 3570

The PO and Autavia are virtually the same height

If you wear the Speedmaster on NATO, it wear just as tall as the PO.

Beautifully finished twin barrel engine featuring Si14:

Very, Very nice dial work with thick applied markers and logo and incredible ink

Like others, not happy that the clasp does not offer micro adjustments but a 1/2 link does the trick:

At the end of the day, I love the contrast of white dial and grey bezel. It wears tall, but I have other watches that wear just as tall, and few that are thinner so it fits right in with the others in the box.

I like that better than I'd have imagined. Cool.

As far as thickness, I disagree, at least visually. When much of the watch's thickness is made up of the crystal, like the vintage examples above, the watch reads smaller and doesn't look nearly as tall on the wrist. Granted, thickness/size is one of the reasons I don't by a chrono, too. I still prefer the case of the 2500 era PO.

Nice combination.... Color of bezel goes well with writing and indices on dial.

Thank you and you make a great point re: thickness. The total thickness is the same but in reality wear a little different due to where the thickness comes from, if that makes sense

That looks so much better than the original - makes you wonder why Omega didn't think of it!

I think I saw this at WUS a few months ago and loved it. It really looks great with the grey bezel.

@Rockmastermike I saw this on Watchrecon a few days ago! Love the combination. I wish Omega offered this without having to purchase a new bezel and replace it.

+1 - really surprised how good it looks and I wonder why Omega hasn't released something similar. Enjoy it!

Just opened up British GQ, immediately to page 176 where they have a piece on the Snoopy - opposite page, a new Chr.Ward Trident - apart from the borrowed Brosnan wave dial, the rest of it now looks more than a little familiar!
