My uncle asked me for help figuring out the specifics on an Omega 30 T2 SC that he has. He is going to have it serviced at some point but doesn't know much about it. Would love help from the experts with any additional info I have missed. Here is what I found so far: Omega 30 T2 SC (based on case ref 2179) US Army issued - 16 jewels - non-magnetic Serial number (10114885) dates the movement to 1944 Everything looks original - though this is where I could use some help Thanks for the help!
The US Army watches were simply off the shelf civilian Ref. 2384 and 2179 cases mated to a specific dial: In addition, the ordered watches were adjusted at the factory to meet chronometer standards, although no outside testing was done. Dial on your watch looks original for a civilian version of the Ref. 2179. They had many different dials. Rule of thumb, if the caseback isn't stamped "US Army" with one of the two known fonts, then it wasn't an issued watch. Hope this helps, gatorcpa
