Hi there,

A long time ago my Grandad gave me this omega watch. I was a young man but he mentioned he was issued it during WW2. He was in the parachute regiment. That’s all I remember and all I know. Pictures included. The strap is not the original (it broke off) but I have half of the strap and it had no special engravings - plain black calf leather. I’m not sure if valuations are allowed on this site but any information would be hugely appreciated. I said I would never let it go but times are tough. Thankyou.

The case and crown align with the 1940s, but the hands and especially the dial are from much later (like 1960s).
Maybe the original dial was badly water damaged and was replaced at some time.
This affects collector desirability so many collectors would only see this as a parts donor, but as it's an heirloom the value is of no consequence.

To find out what you actually have, the caseback needs to be removed and photos of the movement and the inside of the caseback will provide the information needed to solve the mystery.
