Thank you all for the positive feedback and support - he's asked for the personal email and online details of Stefan Birgir Stefansson to be taken down for 12 hours (now 6.5 hours left) while he has time to send me a photo of my watch with his passport as well as send my watch back in the post.

Not much to lose and if this doesn't occur it'll be going back up in 6.5 hours!

Sounds good, detective! 馃榾 Nice work! Hope you get your watch back soon as well as I hope this guy will experience some serious rule of law. :whipped:

FWIW I've seen dozens and dozens of scams like this where the perpetrator POPS back up when the heat starts coming down on them and their identity gets exposed and local authorities start to get involved. What they typically do is offer to return the stolen goods ONLY IF their personal information is taken down, or the victim agrees to stand down the investigation, or delays going to police, etc. In other words they try and trick you into stopping what you are doing, but they almost never return the stolen goods which are usually long gone by then, its just a trick. KEEP THE HEAT ON THIS SCUMBAG! It's the only thing that is working. In fact, double down and go twice as hard at this human garbage and don't let up. Great job

You're absolutely right mate. I've been getting some dross from him all day, the lies never end (see screenshots below).

(He didn't send me a photo of his ID)

Well possible is now that he sees his real Name online (I guess it's Stefan and Magnus is possibly just some friend/neighbor,...) related to fraud he's getting nervous (perfectly understandable in my opinion).

Keeping up the heat is a good advice I guess.

I'm wondering why the guy set up this new account just a few weeks ago and started posting regular stuff. Feels like a case of rinse and repeat.

Looks like the scammer is certainly feeling the heat. I suggest that he might want to make the first move (returning the watch) if he expects personal details to be removed...

Incredible efforts @guaranteed.rohu you deserve justice and as mentioned I hope for the best but expect the worst.
Sincerely hope you get the watch returned.
Feel for you sir! Sad you have to go to such lengths as some people are so despicable! Awful.

In order for google to link and prioritise the name Stefan Birgir Stefansson and Icelandic scammer it should be repeated in as many posts as possible.

I really hope Stefan Birgir Stefansson from Iceland is beginning to sweat as his identify as a serial scammer has been revealed. And maybe Stefan Birgir Stefansson really does get a knock on the door from the Iceland police and gets a criminal record for his watch scams.

put him behind bars

Don't count on this... In Western Europe you don't get behind bars that 'easily'.
Tons of examples of way worse criminals that are still running free!

I think the problem is that the guy is a serial offender, seemingly on here and on other forums, and I think there鈥檚 a great benefit to the community when scammers are easily identifiable by google searches. Is it right remove all traces if only one of the stolen watches is returned.

Great work. I wouldn't remove anything. I would tell him where he can shove his scammed watch in trying to use it to bargain with removal of his true identity. And due to this community service, I would be happy to support the crowdfunding of the 'return of value' of your watch to you, just to keep this up.

Now if only this could be done with the car rental companies...got scammed out of more than double your loss in Iceland.

On a site as good as this I think this idea would get some traction. I鈥檇 be in.
