I Went to Rolex and All I Got Was This Lousy Spoon... (Updated with watch porn)

It was October 2008 and my wife and I were on our honeymoon, a European coach tour. The guide took us to Bucherer in Lucerne, Switzerland where we perused some Rolexes with lots of "oohs" and "aahs".

Being young and having not much money left after paying off our wedding and buying a house, we didn't get anything. In any case, my Seamaster Pro was only three years old and I couldn't justify any more purchases. So we just left there with the free souvenir gift spoon.

If I knew then what I know now, I would have bought a Sub and a GMT2. I would have kept the GMT as a wearer and sold the Sub for a tidy profit now (keeping it in mint condition).

Ah yes, hindsight is a wonderful thing. Thanks for listening to my story 馃榾

You now have to buy a set of forks before you are allowed a spoon these days, so I am told.

Seems like the spoon has stirred up some memories.

There is no forum.

Did they do a Rolex mug with Rolex coffee and Rolex sugar and Rolex milk from Rolex cows to be able to use the spoon in it's correct environment? I've heard if you use it with normal coffee or tea it flies out of your hand, up into a low earth orbit, repelled by the inferior standard

Or next April Fool's day take it to a Rolex AD and say it's been losing time and needs a service, but not to polish it's crown guard

Are you thinking to buy a Rolex or you bought one in the meantime (or waiting for one)?

I currently don't have a Rolex but would love to add one to my collection one day, specifically the GMT Master 2. For an aviation enthusiast like me, I think it's a must have but I'm not willing to pay grey market prices for them or jump through hoops to get one. So I'll just sit tight for the moment.

Probably, but I'm told you can find sterling silver cutlery at Tudor ADs these days 馃榿

You could always play one AD off another & stir it up , as Bob Marley would have .

It was a nice wedding/Honeymoon gift ...... 'cause we all know spooning leads to forking
