. . . after scoring a Flightmaster in January, but as usual, I was wrong.

The vintage Omega near the top of my wish list popped up locally, a twenty minute drive away.

Ca '49 ref 2576-4, cal 343 movement.

[seller's photos]

On my wrist . . .

. . . since Thursday. Running a bit fast; off to my watchmaker before the month is over for a check-up.

As they say, the devil . . .

. . . is in the details.

By far the best movement to go with that beautiful face.

Really nice catch! 馃憤

Steel case and gold markers... perfect combination!

The previous owner has a sizable collection of vintage Omegas, including a steel-on-steel ref 2576.

My primary goal was to own a cal 343, which is why I aimed at the chronom猫tre.

Now that this one is under my belt, the next target should be a cal 352 . . . but not before next year!

Just call me Max . . . short for maxed out.

Congratulations, Art! Not easy to find those 343s, as you know!

Cheers,

Tony C.

True that, Tony. They're harder to find than 352s. What's even harder is finding rg specific parts; practically unavailable, anywhere.

The seller installed a new oscillating weight sourced from Ofrei. He acquired the last three they had in stock. And a smart move, too, considering that the 343 has a specific oscillator that's not interchangeable with the other movements in the family.

Best,

Interesting. What鈥檚 different? Is the text different from 352?

No, the text is the same, but the dimensions are different. A 352 rotor won't work in a 343, and vice versa.

If it hadn't been so visibly original, reasonably priced, and close by, I would've passed. When all the planets are in alignment, you've got to make a move.

One more off the check list, only a few remaining . . .
