And I thought Marathon GSAR was tough

I bought my GSAR about 10 years ago for a good tool watch. Every thing was fine until I took it mountain biking in Arizona. Lots of rocks and vibration. Several numbers on the face fell off. I had a local guy replace them with non lume numbers. Year or so later I started having issues. Recently sent it to Marathon and they say I need new face, new bezel, hands, clasp and finally the case. I expected all but case. It’s scratched but no dents Total price with shipping is about $1100. I don’t know if I want to put more money into it. What do you think. I’m looking at the Sinn 104 but that’s twice as much. I could buy a new GSAR and use my bracelet for 3-400 more.

I bought my GSAR in 2006. I had to replace my bezel twice because I broke it. An hour marker vial fell off the dial. The Maraglo bezel insert triangle disappeared one of the times I damaged the bezel. I had all those repairs done by an authorized service provider and they replaced the bezel and click spring both times and glued the vial back on the dial. I still have the watch with those repairs holding fast. Marathon doesn't refinish case or bracelets or clasps, last I inquired, so replacement is what they do. The bezel is probably damaged or scratched so that gets replaced, too, or it may just be done with a case replacement. I'd say unless they're damaged, it's up to you if you want them replaced. Dial and hands usually get replaced together and you are in the first half life of the tritium isotope; should be plenty of light left. What do you mean the numbers fell off? They're printed on mine and non-luminous.
