I sold this Omega marked bracelet but buyer says it isn’t original

Hi,
Just trying to get some consensus on authenticity of this bracelet I sold. It came on an old Omega Seamaster as I recall. I’m not an absolute expert on these but I didn’t notice anything incorrect about it. I know it is well worn. The buyer in India wants me to pay for shipping back to me as he says it is not as described or pictured. Thanks for any feedback.

It's genuine, but there is no point in arguing with them, just take it back.

Tell him it's real, but if he wants to return it. He pays the return fee and your not responsible if it's not tracked.

Second.

Count the links, check the end pieces and buckle number to make sure nothing was swapped.

People will buy and swap out a part to fix their item and then want to return

DON

My concern is the return shipping and cost from India. I don’t think I can just print out a label. Bit concerned about the logistics. His original message suggested a partial refund. If it was a USA deal I’d take it back no problem.

Good points. Fortunately most people aren’t that unethical. Of course even if it was missing parts or had them swapped out ebay likely wouldn’t do anything about it.

I’m kind of between a rock and a hard place on this. I’ve scaled back on shipping overseas and selling on eBay generally. Getting to the point where they get you coming and going.

I had hoped it would bring more but maybe the size was the issue? For many years I’ve figured that ebay was the price setter or indicator but things are in turmoil now. Some of the comments from the ebay buyer...”You said it's original and I found its not. Check how end links should be engraved and how serial number should look on buckle.” and “It's not original by any means. No serial number no size 13 mentioned. Infact number on end links also not prominent. No way it's original”

eBay favors the buyer in all situations. It is not worth fighting, and if you contest it you will end up paying for shipping. If all goes well you will get a bracelet back that is worth much more than the $100 you received for it. With something like this, for me, auctions are a little too risky. On a good day you might make a little more that a 'Buy it Now (BIN)' with 'Make and Offer.' You are just as likely to end up selling for less than it is worth. Take the return and you'll make your money back on selling BIN. It will take longer but in my opinion the wait is well worth it. Short bracelets are a tough sell though. Good luck.

So this buyer doesn’t know shit- nor do many of the eBay buyers who think they know watches (I’m pissed now- watch out!) . Omega bracelets were made by several contractors over the years, there are different stampings, different fonts, and you have to KNOW what the fυck you are talking about before you claim fake.
I bought the EXACT bracelet you have with 70 endlinks from a very well known member here for $225 and I felt lucky to get it.
Get the bracelet back, put it up here- and you will sell it fast. People are always looking for these.

Since this is a case opened as a ‘not as described’ item I am obligated to pay for return shipping BUT not sure how that’s going to work on an item coming back from India. In the US I’d just print a label but here might have to rely on the buyer telling me what shipping costs from India and I’m betting it will be prohibitive (since it’s kind of up to them). No matter if this is genuine or not I think I’m in a bad position. As someone else said here - buyer always wins. I’d like to name and shame them!:whipped:

I have had buyers do exactly the same thing to me on eBay. My auctions all say no returns. But when they are requested I accept them. I follow up with a call to eBay service rep to explain I don’t accept returns but I’m willing to make an exception. I continue to state the buyer will be paying the return shipping and I will only reimburse the payment on the item not the original shipping charges. eBay has supported this approach for me.
When there have been claims about authenticity i have provided eBay with evidence it is authentic and requested they change return reason to buyer doesn’t want. They have complied.
Also, I don’t refund buyer until I have item in hand.

If you would like, I can send you pics of my bracelet to show eBay that yours is authentic. I think this ass-hat should pay the return shipping and forfeit the original shipping.

I like your positive outlook, but my life experience suggests that unless you are doing business with people you know, or people who have references or for whom you've done your due diligence, a shocking number of people are unethical.

One particular example that still chaps-my-rearend.. I sold an ammunition reloading press + accessories, total value about $1000. I had upgraded and was passing this along to someone who could use it, and offered it for $100, happy to have someone pick it up and use it. It sold immediately. Guy comes over to inspect, I show him everything, he accepts and takes it. Later the same day, I start getting tons of txt messages asking me about every little potential add-on that was "missing" (nothing was missing, these were all aftermarket upgrades I didn't have and clearly explained and were evident during his inspection. After a bunch of back and forth he had the audacity to imply I had ripped him off. Rather than offering to let him return the press for a refund, to both shame him and because I was so frustrated dealing with this idiot, I told him he could keep it and I would return his money, just to prove I wasn't trying to scam him. I asked for his address to mail a check to him, and the final blow--- He wanted to come over to my house to get cash instead.

After that, I no longer sell low cost items, I just donate them or give them away for free.
