The watch is not without its imperfections. I know now why it is missing its bezel. My spare bezel snapped into place way to easily. It comes off easily as well. Any suggestions for securing the temp bezel?. If the bezel takes a moderate bump it will come off for sure.

The way the whole purchase went down was so crazy. I just happened to sit down and start my afternoon review of new listings. The Speedmaster was about the 7th item down. It had been listed about 10 minutes before. I immediately contacted the seller to ask if they would give me a warning if they were going to change the listing to a Buy it Now. I figured I was not the only one contacting the seller. No response. At this time I think there were 4 watchers. After about 5 more minutes watchers were up to 12. At this point I was refreshing the page every 15 to 20 seconds. BAM!! the listing went Buy it Now for $3000. I hit the BIN immediately, I hit the pay now as fast as I could. I have never had an adrenaline shot like that from an Ebay auction.
I thought for sure that the sale would be cancelled. The seller said there were multiple higher offers after the sale. Thankfully they honored the sale.

I am keeping the watch. I have been looking for a Speedmaster for quite some time. I thought it would probably be a 145.022 due to pricing. This watch exceeds my expectations.
Timing is everything.

unbelievable catch. if you'll able to get a good don bezel ($1.5-2k), that means you bought it only for $4.5-5K.

 

Is it even possible to buy a DON bezel for that cheap?

This made my day! So happy you got such a killer deal. Now, find a bezel and wear the hell out of it.

 

If Kingsrider was able to bin a mint cb66 watch (without don bezel) for $3K,
i have no doubt that he can still get a match bezel for $50.

 

Given the condition of the watch, you may want to get a better than average DON bezel. This one will look strange with a battered one. It's in really nice shape.

So you may end up spending the same on a bezel as you did the whole watch, but it will be worth it for sure.

 

I was the same my 105.012-65 had sat on ebay for nearly a week as it just had omega speedmaster professional as its title not as cheap as yours but not far off

 

I had the same issue with a 105003 in the past ( bezel didn’t fit ). The only way I found was to bent a little bit the inner part of the bezel (metal ring) slightly until it fits ! ( reducing the inner diameter
