New arrival - BULOVA ACADEMY - Just a beaut!!! The price was great, the pics less so but I took a swing and very happy I did. 1952, the last year before The Academy put the legal kill on Bulova. All complete and original and as perfect as I’ve ever seen. Needed to add it to the collection and now needed to share pics with OF!

Not to be a Debby Downer, but the watch in the box is a "Biulova" and the watch in hand is a "BulOva".
Have I had too much rum or is something amiss?

Of course, I haven't had too much rum, just the perfect amount.

 

That’s just the affect of the faceted crystal. Which is also original.

 

That's a hell of a crystal to show the "I" so plainly and then to make it disappear and enlarge the "O".

I've got to get off of the sauce!

You know, looking at the subdial and the rest, I see the effect, the "I" is the leading edge of the "U" duplicated?

No apologies needed. It is a crazy crystal, multi faceted like a diamond. I’ll try and post more pics

 

Tried to capture the multi faceted crystal - hard to see completely but gives you a sense. Then on the wrist (it ain’t quiet!) and you can see more crystal distortion. Gotta say, not my normal style but I’m loving it!

 

I know what it feels like to own a vintage piece of American history. (Some ego boosting first) I had a vintage Bulova Alderman with crisp salmon pink dial and blue cathedral hands and I thought for something that I've acquired for less than $50, these stuff have great value.

That's a funky watch box fit for its description and I like the textured case design very much. Good stuff here
