I like this watch, would it be a good first Omega?

I have the denim version on the bracelet. I love it. You can spend more for something with the Omega logo on it but you won’t get a functionally better watch. I alternate mine between the bracelet and an Omega blue diver strap. You know what the bracelet looks like. Here’s a pic of it on the strap:

It’s not a watch you’ll recoup your money on if you decide to sell it. However, at current prices it’s a terrific value for a high quality watch to wear and enjoy for a very long time. Warning: Controversial statement. IMO the Railmaster’s main competitor is the Rolex Explorer. Both are stainless steel master chronometer field watches with excellent movements. The Railmaster is the oblective equivalent of the Explorer minus the logo. People will try to claim the Explorer is a better watch but that’s purely a subjective opinion. There’s nothing the Explorer does any better than the Railmaster except retain value and unless you sell it that doesn’t mean squat. Especially when you consider you can buy a brand new Railmaster for 1/3 of what a brand new Explorer will set you back. YMMV

I think it's a good watch, whether it's your first or last. I think that fabric strap gives it a very casual touch.
