Every time you try and operate these weird black controls that are labeled in black on a black background, a little black light lights up in black to let you know you’ve done it.......

The craft was thirty yards long, a big ship which had "obviously been designed" for the purpose of "making the beholder sick with envy". The paintwork and accessory detail clearly said: "Not only am I rich enough to afford this ship, I am also rich enough to not take it seriously". It was "wonderfully hideous". It's so... black you can hardly make out its shape... light just seems to fall into it!" The blackness of it was so extreme that it was almost impossible to tell how close you were standing to it. Your eyes just slide off it...

Love it.

Went from this, which was difficult to read in certain light conditions without manipulating the wrist:

What I did with the leftovers is another story…

I would love to see what you did with the leftovers. There is another member here who changed the hands on his FOIS and it looked amazing but yours is another level.

I never knew this watch existed until my cardiologist told me about it yesterday...says it's his favourite watch to wear...

😲...he also said he has accumulated 24 Rolex Daytonas in every metal possible, all purchased new in the late 1990s/early 2000s

Talk about a retirement plan, that man had foresight.

what is this called?
The watch was manufactured by Audemars Piguet and is called a "Star wheel"

"The Star Wheel watches were Audemars Piguet’s take on a very old but also very niche complication – the wandering hours.
At AP, the wandering hours complication was born under the name Star Wheel, in 1991. The Star Wheel is so called because the wandering hours are carried on three rotating transparent disks, each printed with four numerals (3 x 4 = 12 hours) which 90º into a new position as the disk passes out of the minute arc. This brings the next hour number on the disk into position (three hours separate each hour number; one of the disks, for instance, is printed with 3,6,9, and 12)."
