I bumped into a fellow passenger moments ago and noticed his watch. After some chatting he mentioned it was bought new and worn daily ever since (and never serviced). He mentioned that a dealer had offered him about £10k for it. I suggested he do a lot of research before ever letting it go, and not change a thing, not even remove the “patina” from the case back and bracelet.

It looks to me to be an honest watch and one loved by its owner.

Any Rolex gurus there who would put a ballpark price on it? (watch only)

if this statement is in fact true and accurate, then is another data point to my belief that routine services are in many cases not warranted...

BTW, nice looking Sub  but please! clean that bracelet! :)

Buddy of mine has had a sub since 80’s ... never serviced, never parks it, runs perfectly. Makes me more relaxed about when to send my GMT too the factory.

OOOOOOO, a RED Sub! RED subs are MUCH FUCKING BETTER than those cheesy white Subs.

Jim, how did you not swoon at the sight of it? Oh, I see how you kept your composure - it isn't Meters First.

If you run into him again, tell him to please have it cleaned and serviced, but NOT polished or cosmetically changed in any way.

Sort of - but not directed at anyone in this thread. Just some general Rolex SS Sport Watch Fan Boy sarcasm.

Gorgeous tool watch. Used and worn as it was intended to. But some soap and warm water occasionally won't do any harm...

I don't understand how his acrylic crystal and bezel insert are in such good condition for a watch that has never been serviced since its original purchase, yet he has aged cheese on top of the endlinks with minimal bracelet stretch.

It's OK, he does the same thing to Speedmaster enthusiasts.
