Detailed photo of sub-dial added upon a polite request to the seller. Looks crisp to me, but I think the hands would still bother me as possible replacements.

What say you based on the new picture @ulackfocus?

Now THAT'S the kind of detail necessary to make better evaluations. The possibility of it being original is better after seeing that photo, but I'm not going to say for sure it's original.

Well done! I鈥檓 not entirely sure that the hands are replacements?

They look to be Longines hands from that time period, but I'll defer to the experts on this one if they've got some more definitive information.

I'd say go for it if you think the price is right, otherwise I just may be tempted just out of curiosity. 馃槈

These lance hands may not be replacements but leaf hands are more typical of this dial design.

Are there any examples of a similar dial from that period using the lance hands? I haven't been able to find any.

I think such a perfection is impossible for a redial.

Did you snag it @adi4? I鈥檓 going to really regret not buying that, I鈥檓 afraid.

馃槵 You left it hanging there for so long damnit! I couldn't resist...

The seller is local here in Seattle and seems very reasonable in PM's, willing to accept a return if I don't like it. To assuage my own feeling of guilt, I had been watching this one since it was posted, and you are of course first on the list if everything checks out and I decide to move it on.

I'll update with some detailed pics when it arrives, see what everyone thinks.

I have this similar style one, albeit central seconds, with what i believe to be more common leaf hands.

You did the leg work to check the subdial, so no hard feelings. I鈥檒l go ahead and dibs to be at the top of the list.

I鈥檒l be joining you in the PNW soon, although a little bit further south. Come down to a Timbers vs. Sounders game sometime and wear it so I get a chance to check it out.

Will do! Have a long time friend in Portland, been meaning to visit them at some point as I'm only a recent PNW transplant. Dibs noted in my spreadsheet.

As promised, some updated pics now that I've received it. Need to find the camera and macro lens, wherever they're hidden, but here are some quick and dirty snaps:

The 2nd and 3rd shots, particularly the side angles of the 12 and 4, show that show the ink has depth to it. That's a very good sign.

Yep, having it in hand, I can't see this being a redial based on the crispness of the printing and the consistency of the dial degradation. Hands seem to match the age of the dial too, but I would still like to track down other examples with similar dials and hands if possible just to be sure. Case looks pretty sharp too with little to no polishing apparent on it.

I'll try to take some macro shots later when I do find that pesky camera, this is about the limit of the iPhone camera I'm afraid.

@Rumar89 - script looks in keeping of the fonts that are verified, and the subdial circles are nice and deep with.

Yes. I had little doubt once I saw the subdial.

Going back to my original question, this was was priced at $650. At the time, that seemed to be a fair price, but not a steal. Although, considering the condition, I think @adi4 did we鈥檒l in stealing it away from me 馃が馃槤.

I gave you some time after getting him to post the subdial pic... And I figured after he updated that, it would be gone soon anyways. PM me, it's yours plus shipping if you want it. 馃憤

Haha, honestly I鈥檓 just giving you a hard time. Give me right of first refusal if you move it on, though, please. Otherwise, enjoy it! I need the money more for my impending move anyway.

I do think the hands are original. They seem to have patina roughly matching that found on the dial.
