Do you have access to a code reader?
nope. It's already at the dealer anyway. Dealer says it's the fuel pump seal "again". Gonna cost me 180 bucks because its not their fault the other dealer installed it incorrectly. Told me I need to contact the other dealer for reimbursement. I flipped out on the phone which is not my normal strategy and told them to put the car aside and I'll contact honda usa because I'm not paying for this. I understand that this is not technically their fault but I truly believe there's an issue here that they need to have resolved with higher ups at Honda. I shouldn't be doing the leg work to get my money back because another dealer did a bad job. For the record I believe none of these stories. Could be a bad seal but I don't trust anyone's opinion now till they actually fix it.

So after all that the phone rings about 10 minutes later and this gentleman I spoke to says that he talked to the manager and they decided to take care of the issue on their dime. I said thank you and that was it.

Guaranteed it is not being fixed on the dealer’s dime. HondaUSA authorized your dealer to fix the car and charge the time and materials to them as “customer satisfaction”. They now have a case number, which you should get for your records.

Any further issues, you should call HondaUSA with that case number before bringing it to the dealer.

I literally opened the case on the phone with Honda usa and got the case number before even bringing it to the dealer. they were the ones who instructed me to bring it in. i actually have to call back now that i got this new info from the dealer to add to the case. At minimum, the new info of them saying the last dealer didn't install the pump back in correctly when the inspected it is pretty good for my claim to be reimbursed... even if its all a lie haha. That would be the main reaaon to call HUSA and let them know about this.

I'm not surprised by this story and was frustrating just to read it.

So this story finally came to an end last Thursday. H.USA called me back for more info, and for me to repeat my story yet again. After all that they wanted me to fax over all the service slips that I collected from 4 trips to the service department or 2 dealerships. I asked what they are going to do with all these slips. Gentlemen said they want to review it all. Fair enough. Thats when I asked what the chances are I get refunded for the services I was charged at the dealer away from home since they didn't fix the issues. I will say the Gentlemen on the phone was very professional and very nice but his response was....... "I'll be honest with you, you won't get a refund" When I asked why I was told... "We are not in the business to go against what are techs and service writers say, and we believe what they say to be truth"

So I did argue with him at this point because we have one tech saying the other tech didn't install parts correctly AGAIN. That annoys me because based on his logic of believing their techs then means I received bad service resulting in the same exact issues I had to begin with. That was spun around on me by saying that the issue was corrected at the dealership near home so I wouldn't get a refund from the other dealership.......

All said and done up until then I didn't have any bad feelings towards Honda as a brand. I wasn't happy with two dealerships now but that was about it. After that phone call of them basically saying that the dealerships that represent the brand can lie any time they want and the corporate side of the business will take their side every time....... Well, now I have an issue with the brand. I obviously didn't fax over the paperwork since its just more work for me with zero return. I'll never buy another Honda vehicle, I've turned my mother and sister onto Honda years ago and they are both due for new vehicles themselves. They have both said they would never buy another as well.

I'm not trying to cry over something stupid but the facts are we brought in a perfectly running vehicle of 25 months, it got a recall, and it had nothing but issues since (the same issues over the course of 3 weeks) How can Honda USA not look at that and see a problem 😕 I went out the following day and traded in the clam box and got the wife a new SUV.

Also worth noting is the honda did come back "fixed" again. I personally wanted to keep it and pray to God that it messed up again. At that point I would have brought it to the state I live ins mediation board that deals with lemon law. I was confident I had a strong case and I honestly don't believe the problem is fixed since they are claiming the issue is something they already tried fixing twice. The wife however, and I'll take her side, didn't want to wait for that process because lord knows how long it would take to be resolved. We decided to treat her Honda as if it were a lease haha, we spent a few bucks and had a brand new car that had no issues for 25 months, then go rid of it. So long Honda 😝

An since I'm sure I'll be asked haha. The new ride is a 2021 XC40 R Design
The wife's happy so I'm happy. I'm gonna give it a few weeks and if I'm into the car I have my sights set on a matching S60 R Design

Oh lord, I hope you’re wife won’t get check engine light soon on the XC40 😉 I got it after few weeks of ownership (brand new) other than that, great car with lot of cool safety features 😀
