-and I'm not convinced this counts as one either.....

I have my heart set on this little fella
    a SS 2652 cal 354 bumper 13,7M with a 'semi-pie-pan' dial

I'd be grateful if my esteemed fellow forum members would give it the once over for me

It just feels right to me some how but these early Connies throw me
    potential problems I see:
    dial:
G in Omega looks a bit odd
some of the 5 minute dots look out of line with the indices (and not quite round enough -or is that just refraction from the crystal?
possibly just one crossed t in Constellation
    crown:
strictly speaking the wrong one -but we all know this is variable during this era
case -crispy but with some signs of age
the medallion is all there but a little worn (I'm happy to put up with it for the case/dial/movement if it's all considered kosher)

your thoughts/comments would be much appreciated
-sorry this the best pic I have got

    Philip

I'd say that the script (for instance around "ED" in "CERTIFIED") as well as the crosshairs are too thickly applied to be genuine. Where it passes through the "6" it looks pretty uneven as well. I vote redial.

Case looks crisp, but is marred by a few nicks.

Redial for sure. Look at the t to the e in Constellation.

    god damn it!

I soooo wanted this to be okay -but I posted it because in my gut I knew I might the Connie-ing myself :)

it's not so much the t to the e that bothers me -if you look at Desmond's info (below) it could be okay (if you allow for distortion) as this era was a bit peculiar -fontwise
it's more the lack of a crossed t with the t to the e
-coupled with possibly misplaced (and mis-shapen) hours markers

with a sad heart I will have to give this a pass

thanks all for the comments -and from saving me from myself

i'll post the full set of pics I have below -as it's aways nice to see early any Connie pics

Something about the "M" in Automatic doesn't look right to me either.

You need to see these up close and examine under magnification.

    No other way I'm afraid.

    Are we starting a rap-group here? :)

In any case, to me, a pie-pan has a dial divided in angular pieces (feeling my English vocubulary lacking the accurate description here).

Is it that you're looking for an early 300 cal Constellation specifically? Otherwise, steel cal 561 pie-pans show up somewhat frequently.

    I agree
The 2 As don't look exactly either
Unfortunately I'm in Dubai and the watch is in the UK
Would be one hell of a loup to pull that off ::rimshot::
    Thanks for the input

I did suggest that as I only have dome dials I was working my way to towards a 'true' pie pan via a semi pie pan
I just really liked the look of this one

I was considering going after this beauty tomorrow too but came to the same sad conclusion about the dial

    The markers are very nice.

Edit: What would speak against a redial is the state of the watch in general. It's rather dirty and hasn't been polished to bits. If the dial has been refinished, it was a while back.

The original single grainy pic was published quite a while ago
I only got the additional pics today - so thought I'd better post them
    Glad I did
And glad we weren't competing for the same watch!

Surely the finish is still to shoddy to be original?

Could be a poor attempt at cleaning removed the original lacquer. Been known to happen.

Still a nice little watch if someone is not too bothered about full authenticity - and if it goes for a decent price
Will need some tlc as the bumper springs are missing ( if it originally had them)

Dial looks original to me and not repainted. The dial fonts/printing on the very early constellations - usually in case ref. 2652 - exhibit some variability and this does not stand out to me as being repainted or refinished.
