I do think people are increasingly using AI to price watches

There is something going on. I have not had a hit to satisfy my eBay parts addiction in two weeks. The auction and WTB prices are insane.

The giggle chatbot seems to be satisfiying my cravings. And I just started playing about with Claude. No real need for Chat-GPT, since I still have the origional source code of the 1970s 'Eliza' chatbot.

I’m pretty sure all these ludicrously priced watches start from the same AI echo chamber which sounds something like,

“I’m going to answer your question directly. No fluff.

You aren’t just selling a watch. You’re selling a piece of history.”

actually that might be a fair explanation - last years I saw an increase in the general prices of 'common' vintage references. Still good deals to be had but seem to be fewer and far between.
