This time a bought a "daily beater" to use instead of my 1675. When cleaned up I decided I need to treat it carefully so I have to buy another watch to use on a day to day basis - sh*t, this NEVER stops! A 16700, full set, e-series. Needs a new bezel and some cleaning around its glas.

That is an awesome 16700, especially for 27 years old!! A full set on top is great, that is one heck of a daily beater as you put it.

To play devils advocate, I'm not sure I'd replace the bezel insert. If your bezel is not functioning, as you may be saying as I inferred insert, that's something different.

Regardless of the nuances of your bezel or insert, that's seriously a stunner.

Ok, Are you thinking about keeping it all original or concerned keeping it untampered with? The bezel is turning, But it's a bit stiff. Manage to get it going though. Maybe just have it removed for a good cleaning and put it back. Anyway I would keep the original one.

And with the headline I didn't mean to brag about finding a nice watch again. I just ment loosing my head and again loosing my head, buying another to expensive watch. But I guess, as long as the stock market rises the watches will follow. And the opposite...

Do you mean that a dealer could use an after market bezel? I spoke to a Rolex dealer and I hope they use Rolex parts. And thanks!

I was speaking more to keeping it original. I'm not really very sentimental but your watch has a few nice battle scars if you will and they add character. If it is not functioning properly I'd want it fixed as well. Regardless of what you decide, it's a sharp looker. And keep the old bezel insert no matter your choice.

    Best!

If so, not recently. Had it opened at my watchmaker and it was quite dry. Otherwise in good condition. So planning for service. And all the dirt must have taken years to accumulate....

great pick up. the 16700 is undervalued imo. truly a transitional watch.
