I can now safely conclude: I'm strange

Horses for courses: I tend to prefer a strap on most of my vintage pieces, but I love what this Milanese does for my C-case. Like @Alpha says with his gorgeous Smiths, lugs still visible:

And, though I’ve got nothing against them, some NATOs I can’t get away with because of where the hardwear sits. So I quite like a Perlon strap as an alternative:

I’ve also just bought a Marine Nationale style parachute strap and they're a really comfortable alternative to NATO.

I think you’ll see a variety of boots for members' pieces here. After all, accessorising is a big part of the fun... at least for me.

I've only tried very cheap very stiff nato straps on my vostok from am-diver (came with the watch) and I hated every minute of it. Those watches stand way too tall to pass additional material under them. I did order some new options from cheapestnatostraps last week to try on my 2254. I already know I'll dislike the feel of the nato (the one below is headed to a friend for his watch) it but it feels like I'm required to try.

I put my metal bracelet on my 2254 for special occasions but otherwise I keep it on leather. My vintage Seamasters and Constellation I keep on leather. I really like rubber for the summer where I might be more likely to get my watch wet. I find it much more comfortable for swimming or snorkeling since they dry out nice and quick, sunblock also comes off them really easily. I mostly wear the vostoks for those kinds of activities because I don't have any emotional, and barely any financial connection to them.

Looking forward to my order coming in, it'll be fun to add to the pile of straps and try some new ones on... And noticing that I ordered a second paratrooper strap, meant to only order one, the other was meant to be a nato lol, guess I'll just have to order some more later in the summer 😗

I should have qualified- stainless sport models. Totally agree, very few men can pull off a gold/gold Rolex without looking like an 80’s record producer.

This specific example came to mind last night, as the LBJ drama "All The Way" starring Bryan Cranston was on...and of course he was wearing the "president"...

After reading this forum for a few weeks I can only conclude that I'm strange and different: I seriously dislike metal bracelets. So much so that I wouldn't even wear a watch with one.

Most (all?) people around here seem to be into metal bracelets on their luxury watches, but to me it makes all watches look bland and samey ... just a mass of blingy steel with a slightly thicker metal blob in the middle - which should be the proud focal point if only my eyes weren't so distracted by all the steel around it 😀

The worst aspect of metal bracelets to me is that it hides the characteristic shapes of the lugs, which are often the most beautifully sculpted parts of a watch and one of the key aspects that gives a watch its own personality.

Go ahead.. tell me I'm crazy 😉
If you're crazy call me crazy too.

Well that is interesting as it was marketed by Vulcain that several presidents, including LBJ wore a Cricket. I wonder is the film got it wrong, if Vulcain was embellishing (like he wore one once), or if LBJ had a watch rotation....in the later, would love to known what his watch box looked like.
