I bought a 1967 Connie... what now?

Hi all,

I finally pushed the button on a 1967 Connie that I purchased though an auction in the Netherlands. Auction ended at 1,400 EUR and I am about to get it shipped to Denmark. The crown is not original, so I probably want to find an original constellation crows and have it exchanged. Would you say that there is anything else that needed to be fixed? And also, how often would one have it serviced?

Have a wonderful day, all!

Congrats to your purchase!

If the watch will be your daily wearer for the next time you could let it be serviced in order to know that everything is Ok

End links are not correct, but thats not a thing you have to fix, just saying.

What is written on the inner side of the clasp?

The pictures are overexposed to it is not so easy to see all details but the case seem to show good facets.

If you like post more pictures if the watch comes in.

Wonderful day for you too! 😀

Congratulations @AllanFatum
I think that case is pretty good too.
Correct crowns do come up now and again but there’s quite a few people looking for them.
If the watch hasn’t been serviced, then find a good watchmaker and have it done if you’re going to wear it regularly.
Then about every 5 years after that.

Could be as early as ‘66 with that serial no.

Congrats!
One of the best catch I’ve seen in a while.

Plus, pictures are overexposed, I’m sure it will be even better in real life!

Congratulations!
Don’t get too hung up on finding an original crown. Just set up a search on eBay and one will turn up eventually. I‘ve managed to find a few in recent years.

I'm not shure but if you look closely there seems to be something wrong with the tension ring or it is missing:

Is there a gap between dial and case visible?

With a correct tension ring maybe the small dial damage at 12:05 would be hidden also

I agree - just wear it for a bit and see how you find it before embarking on any changes - or even a service. I could certainly live with the crown for the time being (no pun intended) until I get a feel for the watch.

i think you might be right. Just did a close-up of it. What does one do with something like this?

I would wait until you have it in hand to see what it is.
The dark line is peculiar but it could be a shadow from the retaining ring not sitting flush against the dial.
(I just checked my dogleg dome dial and there is a slight dark line adjacent to part of the retaining ring - viewed under a loupe)

Congratulations, it's a very beautiful Constellation and it seems in very good condition. Definitely get it serviced if you intend to wear it daily.👍
