I wanted a C-case Constellation for a while, I’ve been reading Desmond’s articles front to back and decided the one I really wanted was a steel cal. 564 with the knurled bezel and the lumed dial (I prefer the thicker hands and markers and I Iike they way the lume was applied only on the tip). An interesting dial would be a bonus. So I’ve been watching for examples of that.

Then one night browsing ebay I saw one that I really liked. The condition was not pristine: original and untouched but clearly a watch that has been used (I believe, do tell me if I’m wrong – I don’t think you could refinish a capped case). I kept thing about the 3C rule so I wasn’t sure about it, but I really liked the watch and I really liked because it was a less common rose gold (capped) version, which I hadn’t seen before. And then there’s the other rule I read here that condition only matters on the second one, the first one is to scratch the itch, then you can upgrade.

Then a week or ten days later I get a notification that I won the auction. I literally have no memory of setting up the bid. Guess I have to go easier on the Yamazaki after work.

Anyway, I’m really happy with it, it’s running very well. There is some dust on the dial, the case could use a bath and the crown needs to be replaced, but I think it’s still very nice. The edges are not razor sharp but they are still there, the case is still brushed, and the bezel still shimmers in the sun.

(put down those bats, the medallion is protected)

That is a very nice all original watch. Pink gold capped is unusual with the "C" case.

Gold capping is about 8 times as thick as normal gold plating. So long as you polish using nothing more than a blue Blitz cloth, there should be no problems with a gentle clean.

Careful of that Perlon strap. Might eventually do some damage to the medallion.

    I protected the medallion!

I also ordered a two piece one. I like the look, I like it less formal.

Removed the perlon so @ulackfocus is not mad at me. Now the problem is that I only have 18mm straps, but more are in the mail already.

The harsh sun shows the age of the crystal.

Looks wonderful in the black leather strap. Now when at properly sized one arrives you'll be fixed up.

You need a strap widener. That'll give you the extra mm you need.

Where did you find a 2-piece Perlon strap if I may ask?? I've been ordering from Clockwork Synergy and I've been very happy, but I haven't been able to find a 2-piece Perlon there or anywhere...please enlighten me!

@DIV Eulit on Amazon. 20mm only. If that doesn't work I think I'm going to try to make my own from a single piece one, doesn't seem hard to heat seal and sew it.

    Thanks for the heads up.
Good for you!...my sewing skills are non-existent...the other option would be a 2-piece NATO. Those are pretty abundant.
    Good luck

noob question -> will you please elaborate on what damage is caused to the medallion and how to prevent it? what about damage to a sapphire sandwich? more or less to worry about?

    thanks in advance...
