Am I the only crazy/picky one who wants the steel in my watch the same hue/color as the steel in the aftermarket bracelet?

Probably.

But in the spirit of helpfulness found in OF I offer three suggestions...

1) Buy OEM bracelet

2) Put it on a NATO

3)

Gold has to match too but I think more people would agree with that part than the steel part.

The watch in question came with a strap but I am a fan of bracelets. That said, I stumbled across what I hope is the perfect strap, on eBay, and with any luck it will be one harmonious joyful pairing.

I’ve had a few like this, particularly newer aftermarket bracelets that seem to have “warmer” tone than the vintage watches I pair them with which tend to be colder. I haven’t found the same issue with vintage bracelets. I assume it’s a difference in the alloys.

That's exactly what it is. A Bonklip bracelet (for example) doesn't need a high-strength tool steel. A mild stainless with high workability is much more appropriate.

Are we talking about the new Forstner? I have two of them and yes, they are a little warmer. I understand though as we are the minority fitting new bracelets to old watches. I think most people are fitting them to modern watches and trying to get the vintage feel.

That's one (the "beads of rice" model) but I have two others that don't match, either, and I know so many people don't care at all but it bothers me. 😀

Yes I am with you getting matching straps, finding the right combination is very difficult, I also try and get the bezel, outer case and indicies to match too especially if they are of different colour tones such as brushed, polished SS or gold as sometimes you can get all 3 combined into the one watch.
