The market for vintage Omega watch buckles in 16mm and 18mm is quite a minefield, with counterfeit examples flooding eBay and the range of genuine Omega tang buckles confusing. Here we break down the best options for a high quality, authentic Omega buckle.

This is one I've been meaning to write for a long time as its such a commonly asked question, and I get rather frustrated by just how many of these junk quality fake vintage buckles are floating around, which is why I strongly recommend anyone that isn't willing to take the time to learn sticks to these new OEM Omega vintage style buckles, which tend to be far better quality anyway.

Just since a couple of people asked, if you want the one pictured in the centre and left in the image above you get it here:

16mm Vintage style Omega buckle Ref STZ010566: https://www.ebay.com/itm/145626916935

I'll update with more as I see them going for good prices.

Good article, trying to find a real vintage buckle is usually not worth the risk. The buckle is a small part of a vintage watch, the juice of a real buckle often isn't worth the squeeze.

Thought I'd found a bargain a few weeks ago when I stumbled on his (off ebay) website.
You just scared me into trying to make a purchase I couldn't afford.
When I logged in though, freight jumped from €10 to €75. That's certainly ruled me out.

If you're in, or close to, Italy you may have better luck.
One option here: https://www.salvatigioielli.it/cata...esse.html?search_query=025STZ007063&results=1
Follow the part number format for the other buckles.
Good luck all.

The Brisbane Boutique is closed for renovations. I think we're supposed to try order these through other channels though, so I'll hit up Wallace Bishop for a quote.
Not expecting to be pleasantly surprised.

Ronny at VintageWatchCo I believe has an Omega parts account so should be able to order them too if you have been there before, they've relocated to the Tattersall's Arcade

Thanks Ash. I press my nose up against the glass a lot 🤣
Think I spoke to Ronny maybe 15 years ago when buying the cheapest strap in the shop.
That was back when they were on the opposite side of the Brisbane Arcade to their last shop. I never ever ventured inside that last one 🥺. That's probably just a personal shyness(?) with buzzer doors.
They do have a very nice looking Omega Rocket desk clock that moves around the window display now and was actually running last time I saw it.

Did Paul (?), the watchmaker behind 7-11 Edward/Adelaide St, eventually retire?
That's another opportunity that I dragged my heels on.

Good article - there are also lots of fake Omega deployant buckles on eBay as well.

Yea that's a good point I might do a follow up on bracelets and deployants too as those markets are also full of garbage
