This info probably won't be of use to anyone here...
I use Helicon Focus, focus stacking is not really that difficult with a good camera and a tripod. Some cameras even have it as a native function, just set everything up and it'll take all the shots and compile.

This guy is pretty great, way beyond my level, but he does product photography and has a handful of watch specific videos:

Shot these w/ Canon RP / 85mm macro, prob around 20 or so shots and then Helicon Focus. Feel free to critique, I am self taught and just kinda playing around with what I got.

Awesome shots @GuiltunderGlass ! Very impressive and thanks for the link to botvidsons videos... they only reinforce the message that good/great product photography takes lots of time and skill.

You don't need lightbox or softbox. You need light, some kind of diffusion material, reflectors. Props... everything works 😀
I used paper as prop for these shots.

Risto’s shots are fantastic, and perhaps best on this site.

Thanks! I am taking my photography seriously 😀 If you look at professional photos of watches (on watch brands official media platforms) then most of the best shots are of the new watches. Vintage… there are just few people I know who put serious effort to shoot them in more creative setup. Still, photos featured in magazine type websites like Hodinkee or shops like Bulang are very well done.
