I’d like to regulate the movement on this 70s classic but not sure how to disengage the caseback to access the back of the movement. Any suggestions?

The movement in these is generally held in the caseback with a surrounding housing, part of the actual caseback.

Use plastice levers either side of the dial and gently prise a tiny amount at a time, moving around the dial so you don't tilt the movement.
Make sure the crown/stem don't engage with the caseback.

Take it gently and let's know how it goes.

Thanks Jim. Will give it a try with a plastic guitar pick and see how it goes.

Two picks, one either side and gentle wiggles. Then move aound 90º and repeat. Then repeat etc.
