··Sometimes I’m wrong. Usually.I generally agree that almost everyone I know who does or could own a luxury mechanical watch also owns a smartwatch. I'm the exception in my social circles, but that's just me being a unashamed contrarian. They are essentially jewelry for when people feel like "dressing up" and everyone has their own personal contexts for dress up situations.
When I see someone wearing an interesting watch, I think there's an interesting story there. Even if I don't have the occasion to learn it.

·Never have owned a smart watch. Already way too connected with my phone, don't need another thing which tells me "You've got mail' to check it. Then having to worry about how much battery life is left, it would drive me more crazy than I already am.
Do see the function for medical condition monitoring like blood sugar levels and things of this nature. But give me a dumb watch from the 60s with some vintage character and "get off my lawn."

Some folk I know have switched in last year or two (from smart watches) to Oura etc. smart rings. And a couple of them are now wearing (modern) wristwatches. 'Same' health/fitness tracking features on the rings I hear, on a downside missing 'find my iPhone' with the ring (well, sample size 1), and in the end much less distractions without the smartwatch.

·Grocery shopping on Sunday and saw a youngish guy, probably mid to late 20's, wearing the no date grey dial Seamaster 300M on the mesh bracelet. Looks pretty nice.

There’s another fitness tracker I forget the name of but it’s a wrist band and nothing else. I see people wearing them, a nylon wrist strap attached to a plastic sensor. I personally find it silly to take up wrist real estate for that alone. These must be those misguided people who don’t wear any watch whatsoever I’ve heard about.

·I think the real trend is the fitness tracking. So when there are smaller less intrusive devices for that like the rings, the smart watch becomes redundant to the smart phone.

·Yes! I just looked it up, and I’m surprised how many companies are making smart bands. Someone I knew had one maybe a year ago or so. Theirs was called a Woop. It’s odd to look at someone’s wrist expecting to see a watch and where the dial should be is covered by the strap.

Have to balance that out with a vintage Bulova at a cafe spotted just the day before.

·I got spotted my self by a young guy wearing a nice Seiko diver. He commented on my Seamaster and we had a little chat. He had been doing road work and saved up money to start his own company. Best of luck to him, I did mostly partying in my early twemties.

·I live in small town usa and rarely see anything. The coolest piece I've seen was at a local winery, an older gentleman was wearing a meteorite pepsi daytona. Only other notable sighting was at a donut shop, saw a fellow dad wearing a white dial seamaster 300m. Spotted it instantly by the hideous bracelet

·Not sure if you will deem this to be located "in the wild", but I can tell you that 70% of the gents using the Business lounge at Zurich airport when I was there this past weekend, were rocking a Rolex of some sort!!! Subs, Sub dates, DJ, OP, Daytonas, Explorer, etc etc. I was seriously proud of being one of the rare ones not wearing the crown, but instead rocking the White Speedy! 😎

I have spotted some watches on my colleges. Two of those that dont wear smart watches are wearing a AT style Seiko and a Tissot, bothe white dialed.

·I see them a lot because of my work I guess. I just went to a conference where pretty much everyone was wearing either a nautilus, aquanaut, AP or Rolex. Very boring taste.

·I was at the gym in the locker room. I saw this guy had a gigantic (get your mind out of the gutter and no it’s not that) watch on. I was trying not to be like Ace Venture in the bathroom scene (google it, great movie) and just took a wild guess and asked if it was a Paneri. Good guess on my part. We talked for a few about watches.
