I was at my local drum shop last Friday. As I was waiting for assistance, I noticed a vintage Seiko Diver on the wrist of another customer. I asked him about it and he told me it's his only watch and he's had it for over 30 years. You could tell he was both surprised and grateful someone would notice his watch. The love he showed for it was inspiring.

At lunch with a buddy of mine today who had a SS blue dial DJ on a jubilee that he got from his company for earning a certain amount of new business.
Not a bad little perk. It replaced his Apple Watch 😉.

Went to see a knee surgeon today….

He was saying bought it 17 years ago when he divorced…..rebound Watch he called it…Said he would buy a Grand Seiko if he was buying a expensive watch today. Loves the finish on them…..
Got a feeling I am going to give him half of one in a few weeks or $3500 towards one 😗

He might give you a discount if you offer to make him a fancy handled scalpel perhaps

Here's a copy and paste of a post of mine from the military watch forum. This happened around 7 years ago in uptown Cebu City. Definitely my most shocking watch sighting.

we were having dinner at a very popular italian restaurant here in cebu city about 3 months ago. the place is owned by italians and many expats hang out there as it is right on mango avenue in the heart of the night life district. there was a 40-50ish year old guy, t-shirt and all tattoed up sitting at the table next to us. i saw what appeared to be an old daytona on his wrist so when he got up and walked outside to the courtyard to smoke i got up and followed him out to chat. pleasant guy and we started talking when i asked him about the watch he was wearing. he showed me the watch and it was indeed an old daytona with the peruvian air force engravings on the back. we had a nice conversation as he was italian and spoke decent english. said he was an avid collector and bought the watch from osvaldo patrizzi and it was the one featured in his book. everyone at our table was shocked he was wearing the watch out and about in the city as if it was a tag heuer. eek6.gif

Currently flying with a fellow former mil rotorhead who purchased his GMT-Master II new about 20 years ago. It’s sorta weird [but cool]…I’ve been on the B737 for about a year now and I fly with quite a few dudes who wear higher end watches…that wasn’t the case when I was on the MD88/90.

I see lots of well-known luxury watches daily, but who knows what's real or not in the wild?

I want my pilots to be wearing nice watches. They have something to live for.

Elderly....18th birthday in 1966.....

I was 4 when this 'elderly' fellow was 18; I've not considered 74 as elderly for many years. After all, Jagger, McCartney, Townshend, Plant, Page, Daltrey etc are close to 80 (or there already) and they still rock out. Hell, even John Lydon is 68. Careful who you call elderly. 😁

I was in a jewelry store getting my wife’s ring fixed and everyone that work there was wearing a Rolex. Not one of them noticed my Speedmaster even after I complemented them on their watches 🤨 Unfortunately I think most people that wear Rolex these days (besides the people on these forums) are really into jewelry and watches.

At a wedding this past weekend I saw another guy wearing a Speedmaster and automatically assumed he must be a watch person. I pointed out that we were wearing the same watch hoping a strike up a conversation but he just kind of said some thing about “good taste” and that was about it. Maybe it was a gift or something and he doesn’t really know or care about watches.

I think I really just want to talk about watches with someone in person for a change😀

Yes, elderly is twenty years older than what we are now! I'm now where 74 doesn't look elderly. It does seem though that many seem to fall apart fast compared to others.

Went out for lunch with a friend. Weather was fantastic, so sat outside. I never see any nice watches in the wild here, in the biggest city in CH, but today was a feast.

- Rolex (6) ... little guy wearing a sub that looked YUGE ...5 ladies wearing a combination of datejusts and OPs (mostly young mums with toddlers) ... the majority were blingy datejusts and one 2tone vintage
- 1 Omega Speedmaster, 80s
- 1 Omega SM300
- 1 hideous TAG
- a lot of other wierd and loud watches that I don't know.

Today. A Rolex 2 Polar. I am doing a bit of driving for a fairly well known British girl band. The chap who does their sound wears one. He isn't really a watch guy but bought it ten years ago. Hasn't had it serviced yet and it's still "fairly accurate " ( his words).
