How much would you pay for this Suverän?

Found this Omega Suverän 2400-3 which has cracked lume on the hands and pretty faded dial, (which I don't mind personally.)

How much would you guys pay for this max. and would restoring the lume on the hands be a wise move?

Case looks good and all parts looks to be original, dial is not great and lume on hands looks like they been relumed before anyways.

A really good Suverän costs easily 1500-2000$+
But much of the value sits in the dial, so this would Probably be a 1000$ watch if in working order.

Okay, thanks!

Do you happen to know would it possible to re-lume the hands with that same color or something to suit the patina? Idk which color they were originally. And how much would it cost?

I might be getting this for 300€ 😉

There are very good watchmaker that can relume almost anything these days, I don’t know any perosonally but have heard that @true_patina on IG is very good for example.

For 300€ its a steal no matter what, please let me know if you don’t want it 😉

While the Suverän is a nice watch, consider the ref. 2383 instead. It has the same variety of dials and nearly the same case etc. You are only missing out on the caseback text.

You wont get a 2383 in this condition for 300€ either so why even consider that in this case?

Otherwise I agree that you pay a hefty premium for almost the same watch just because of the Suverän history.

It's a tricky decision with the lume on the hands. If they are very different than the lume on the dial, the watch will look funny. However, the lume on the dial isn't particularly attractive.

I was actually following this watch too (on a site that I won't disclose here for the OP's sake). I bet, however, that the price will go up considerably when the hammer is about to fall so don't get your hopes up too high. But if you have contact directly with the seller and is being offered the watch for 300 I would say go for it no questions asked.

Haha thanks for keeping this a secret!

Yeah I was in the talks with the seller and I guess he just needs some quick cash. Sad to see someone selling their watch just cos money tho. Makes me almost not want it anymore.

and price-wise, I'm still thinking should I get just cos it's quite steal or just skip, save up and buy a better condition Suverän in the future.

I think i depends. If you are looking for a daily wearer then no, I would wait and find something nicer to look at. If you are looking for a bit of a project, however, then I might go for it.

I don't mind a little project especially for that price!

I understand the beauty of a mint condition vintage watch and the perfectly new modern one, but I have always preferred the used look on my vintage stuff. Maybe that's why I don't mind the darkened lumes on the dial etc. I have clothing from vietnam war that someone would refer ad collectibles. I have never babied my things cos I want to wear what I have. That's why I don't mind the rugged look. Also I'm not a serious collector so I'm not after "perfection" when buying vintage. I just like the look and love the history.

Just buy the watch! € 300 is a bargain! The dial is almost flawless. Lume can be replaced, with a correct colour.

Here is an example of reluming that my watchmaker did some time ago, on quite terrible white hands. The watch is a Suverän ref 2425 (center second) and almost any colour preferred was available. I love the result of his excellent job!

I am not discussing price here - it's currently for sale via an online worldwide auction with a current price of €350 with 11 days to go. Entertaining a price of €300 would be beyond ridiculous.
