It is an absolute disaster for the people/customers in airports and hospitals and supermarkets. Why cant these overpaid "professionals" do it without harming others ? It is not the first update they release is it ?
And A.I. is not the solution either, this probably beeing the first case they used it without human supervision, as Artificial Inteligence is programmed by Human Intelligence..... same old same old.

So far the only issue I'm having is that Shucktheoyster's latest releases aren't loading photos. So I can't see these lovely watches I can't afford right now anyway
Not being able to buy from him is as opposite from having an issue as one can get 😁

Looks like here has been OK 😗

No issue for me, had finished work and all I needed was the stovetop to work and the fridge to keep the beer cold 👍👍

I was a Redhat systems engineer originally so we continued down that path and away from Microsoft and most SaaS products with the exception of Cloudflare.

The only thing that impacted us was someone trying to pay for an ad free subscription couldn’t but I think that was more to do with his own bank than PayPal itself.

Only an issue with Microsoft.
Mac and Linux had no issues...

Work was down last night for like 6 hours.
Only downside (upside? 😉) of WFH.

And that is just a small drop in the bucket. Banks, hospitals, travel, businesses big and small. Hell, even race cars!
The disruption this had on so many different levels is wild.

Admittedly being on the Linux / Mac side of the fence I don’t get much exposure to the other side’s world but I had absolutely no idea Crowdstrike was this widely used at all. I don’t even know a single person professionally that has ever used it, yet the impact is on par with the chaos Cloudflare would cause if it turned up its toes.

Made for a PITA day for sure; Dragon dictation systems down, computers on the fritz. Fortunately microscopes and slides are pretty low tech so I could still push glass.
Very glad to not be traveling today.

Almost every medical facility we work with was fubar. I couldn’t place anyone or get peoples meds refilled. Our medical records were not down but glitchy. Did assessments by hand I’ll enter them when the shit show over. Maybe I can get a watch with crowdstrike shorts

No impact on my normal job but it made my day trading in the morning very hard. The Bank of America Merrill Lynch website was really buggy initially.

Honestly a major F-up at Cloudflare would be considerably worse.

So the issue is an issue with bit locker and crowd strike.

so looks like the QA team wasn’t running bitlocker on test systems as they are non prod.

sigh.

I had to google sre.
I'm annoyed by people who speak (and write) in acronyms as if the whole universe would know what they are talking about.
Sorry for the rant...

I was wondering what the hell a Service REservoir had to do with IT.

It would seem to me that the geeks did the typical thing of making shitloads of changes, most of them unnecessary to most users.....released it into the wild, without bench testing them properly......no doubt pushed into rushing it by the bastard, parsimonious, prick bean counters to save a few bucks!
The bean counters, will now shove all the blame on to the geeks, and some poor bugger will cop the blame and pay the price for the bean counters greed......whilst the bean counters will still get their bonuses!
