It’s good to be retired. Sailing season so we don’t travel. Did not notice. That said, I’m sure Messers Putin, Kim, Xi are paying close attention.

Only effect on me is whatever the impact is on the tech ETFs I'm invested in, no biggie in the long run.

As a senior SRE for a pretty large company with a pretty large component of Windows Server systems,

I had to google sre.
I'm annoyed by people who speak (and write) in acronyms as if the whole universe would know what they are talking about.
Sorry for the rant...

So far the only issue I'm having is that Shucktheoyster's latest releases aren't loading photos. So I can't see these lovely watches I can't afford right now anyway

Well if you don’t know the acronym then you probably wouldn’t understand the title in this case.

Site Reliability Engineer.

Looks like here has been OK 😗

No issue for me, had finished work and all I needed was the stovetop to work and the fridge to keep the beer cold 👍👍

Well, until today I hadn't heard of Crowdstrike. It appears that its update glitch has affected the plans of many, many people that do not know about the software. I'm pretty certain most of them never heard of SRE either.

Multiple 911 centers are down, FAA was down .. could take weeks of manual intervention (i.e. some tech guys booting servers and deleting files) to clear up everything. A current fix is to use stored encryption keys, but those keys are stored on the domain controllers that are currently down.

Not a fun day in IT land.

Luckily for us, we just have our 2 main servers that got stuck in the boot loop.
it is just a process of booting in safe mode, finding a particular file and deleting it.
Can’t imagine the process for people that have 100’s of systems to manage all over the place.
