My pedantic streak
🤨 will no longer allow me to ignore the error in the title (and initial post) of this thread - it grates anew with each fresh appearance on the “Latest” posts list. Which, by the way, continues to work quite well despite one member’s recent - and I suspect self-inflicted - experience to the contrary.
Please, it’s either... “how many
Rolex watches” or “how many
Rolexes” ... “do the members on here own?” - take your pick, though I recommend and prefer the former, since there is only one Rolex - the company (singular) that makes watches (plural.)
Rolex apparently has no stated position on the matter. However, I have never seen the company’s copy refer to “Rolexes”, though “Rolex” is used in the singular to refer to one watch, e.g. “Only official Rolex retailers are allowed to sell and maintain a Rolex.” and “Every Rolex tells a story.” As often, it’s “Rolex watch” e.g. “Whether it is an heirloom, a milestone of success or a gift, a Rolex watch frequently becomes an emotional symbol that brings to life exceptional moments.” and “Find your Rolex watch among our women's collection of refined, feminine timepieces with noble materials, graceful gems and elegant colours.”
Either way it is definitely NOT
Rolex’s.
That is the possessive, e.g. “Rolex’s manufacturing facility in Bienne.”
p.s. Fun Forum Fact - Thread titles can be edited by the author.
That is all.
