Inspired by a comment by @LouS, I was curious to know.. How far would you travel to see a watch you were considering for a buy? I drove to Detroit from Toronto - about 4 hours each way. Picked up a nice 105.003.
About 4 hours would probably be my limit right now. Not that I don't mind traveling, but to be completely honest... at 4 hours in the car my ass goes numb. Nice speedy, definitely worth the drive!
Well for me Gold Coast which is an hour away, but that's because the next nearest city is Sydney and around 11 hours drive away, which costs more by car than it does by plane.
Killer 105.003 @oddboy! I'm going to say 6 hours as well. I frequently make the drive from my current place of residence (VA) back home to PA and that's a little under 6 hours so I'm used to it. I'd probably be more excited to see a watch than my relatives anyway.
I live in fort lauderdale and caught a flight last year to buy ten watches in Boston. Thats the longest distance to date for me.
I flew from HCMC, Vietnam to Tokyo to pick this up. I think I deserve bonus points as I was on my honeymoon at the time
Able to find one pic. Only half the watches. But was happy that i was able to finally find those two rare pandas.
How far has someone traveled to SELL you a watch? I was involved in a discussion about an 1892 Waltham Canadian Railway Time Service pocket watch on another message board, a few years back. I got an email from a fellow who had seen the thread. He had one, and he asked if I was interested. I said I was. He and his wife traveled to Calgary from Dalmellington, Scotland, about 50 miles from Glasgow. He brought the watch with him! Naturally, I bought it! He and his wife love Western Canada, so the purpose for the trip was two-fold.
Coincidentally picked up this 105.003 in your neck of the woods @oddboy. Only a 2 hr drive each way though. That would be about my max.
