How does a maxi case look on a 6.25" wrist?

Just window shopping on a few watches recently with a friend of mine. I tried on his hulk and was wondering how the maxi case looks on a 6.25" wrist? To me sometimes I feel its too large other times just right. I was also able to try on some Grand Seikos as well. I think the smaller size cases ~37-39mm fit just right.

I feel like on a wrist as small as yours a 36mm Rolex Explorer 1 or Datejust would serve you very well. IMO 40 Maxi is going to look too big.

Agree with CoDiffe - on the photo of the Hulk, the lugs seem to be extending way too much, and outside your wrist dimensions

You could try other vintage 40 mm Rolexes, but looks like late 30s mm are your sweet spot

Case in point - both these Rolex sports watches are 40 mm diameter - but they look and wear completely differently - but then i do have a 7.5 inch wrist. I also find that wrist shape plays a big part wrt watch comfort

Yeah, it's not just the diameter ... the length and shape of the lugs are affect the fit as well.

when the lugs start to overhang its time to walk away for me. i too have small wrists, but the 5 digit line fits perfectly. lug to lug also plays a factor as well as I have just received a gift of a seiko padi turtle from a patient and despite its hefty case, the watch does not over hang because lug to lug is just about 47mm. 6 digit rolexes are a no go for me except the 114270, which isnt truly a change to the 14270, unlike the 214720.

I agree, I love my Milguass as well since the lugs don't stick out like the other modern Rolex designs.

I also have a wrist like yours (6.25-6.5) and I keep the rule to have a lug-lug length below 45mm.
All rolexes 6 digits and old smp 41mm are too big for my tastes (lug-lug around 48-49 mm).

I tried on rolex 5 digits (40mm) and it fits great (also others pointed it out).

I think the safest is an old rolex or the yachtmaster 37mm.

Yes I agree. Lots of different factors at play but for smaller wrists, I think the lug to lug measurement is one of the most important. If the watch spreads and hangs off (even slightly) over the edges of your wrist, the watch doesn’t look right and actually makes your wrist look even smaller.

Yeah that looks way too big in my opinion. But people have different tastes. If your are happy and comfortable with the size, who cares what other people think.

Here is how my modern Rootbeer looks on my wrist, which is almost 6” — I have to slide it further my arm so that the lugs don’t stick out.

Here, a 16800 Submariner. A little better in terms of size, but still have to wear further out. I prefer this size.

And just for laughs... 44mm Sinn.

Great collection! But women can get away with it for some reason and it doesn’t look clownish like it can on men. My lady has a 42mm Marathon pilots watch that she loves and it looks awesome on her. I try to pull off a 42 and I look like this guy

And I agree with the others that the older 5 digit Sub probably a better fit for your wrist. And as Dan said, it’s all about the case length more than the width. Perhaps the modern Tudor subs?
