New to the forum and new to Omegas so be gentle.

I have just got myself the watch shown, on the rear lug it has the number 56506636.

Can anyone help me identify the correct model number and if possible its age.

The seller intimated that it was only 5/6 years old but from the information ive managed to glean I,d say its more like 15+ although its mint and looks virtually unworn aside from a small mark on the bezel.

Any help greatly appreciated and apologies if ive posted in the wrong place...

Serial places it around 1998, so definitely not 5-6 years old. Also do keep in mind that watch is quartz, not automatic

Thanks I knew he was telling me a porky so to speak. Yes I knew it was a quartz. Should there be a version or model somewhere? the ones ive seen advertised say like 2831.00.00 etc etc but ive no idea what this refers to

That's the reference, 2531.80 is the automatic chronometer version for example

Thanks. Just one last question. Should the bezel be unidirectional or not. It only has 60 clicks but i seem to think that 120 wasnt introduced until later models?

That's looks very nice for it's age. It's my son's birth year, but I gave up trying to find a decent 1998 watch for him, and then you post this...

lol, its not for sale larry, took me ages to find one in such nice order. I,m concerned that the bezel isn't unidirectional now tho...

Well enjoy the watch! I decided to just get good watches for us that we'll enjoy using, and forget the birth year watch business. My son would have loved this 1998 Seamaster Pro in blue though.
