How close did your birth year watch get?

Missed by a year about 9 -12 months with the watch being newer. Best guess with what was known at the time though.

I have three that are birth year. But that’s as close as I got. All are seikos. At some point I’ll start hunting for an omega of that year.

I'm torn on this. I've been eyeing a birth year (1985) 5513, but I'd much prefer a matte dial from '83 and earlier. First world problems.

This Speedy is from my birth year, 1977, but several months away from my birth month:

This Seiko though is from my birth month and year, June 1977:

I think if you found the Year is great.
Year and month = champagne
Year+month+date= call Tom cruise for that, but hey never loose faith!!

Haha, I guess Tom will have to wait very, very long for the call... 😁

Birth year off by 4 months. I doubt I will ever find a birth month watch, nor do I really care to. 1968 also.

Bought this 145.022 thinking it was 1979 (birth year). Serial number range said it was 79. Got an extract a year or so later and found out it was originally sold in 78. Didn't care already created a close relationship with it! Love it anyway, it will always be my first Speedy!

The first Speedmaster was born the year after I was, so that’s an impossible goal, and I’m not on a mission to find anything from 1956.

Just about anything from 1956 is now way more valuable than I am. I probably couldn't afford something built in 1956, be it a watch, car, motorcycle, guitar (especially a guitar), or whatever...

Oh, well... I gave a lot more thought to this kind of thing when I was younger.

Very pleased with finding my birth year watch, 1959.......now I'll have to find that Cadillac with the big fins.

I guess I need an extract from the Ω Archives to settle the production date, but the year 1957 is OK. I don't consider birth year watches that interesting, but I am in fact rather pleased that this watch matches it.

Gray Ostrich?
Looks nice!
Wonder how it would look on a black dial?

An OF member was recently selling his 1986 (February) moonwatch, which would be within a week or two of my birthday - and I missed out on it, but maybe next time.

Just buy watches, and sooner or later ones a birth year. Think I have 2 or 3 now. Don’t really care that much about birth year watches.

pretty sure that used to be mine some years ago ! Glad it still has a good home 😀

Great idea - unfortunately I was born at a time where Omega had a bit of a dip. 🤔
