I was looking through some photos from the summer, and this one of Opus jumped out at me. He is looking very handsome and distinguished with his gray face. And standing fearlessly on that rocky ridge, looking for marmots. You can see Mrs. S scrambling in the background.

What a great pic. Can I ask which mountain that is?

Thank you, its a very obscure area. It’s a ridgeline just north of West Elk Peak in the West Elk Wilderness in central/south Colorado.

Very nice! I"m closer to the middle of the Rockies...Well that is if you count a 6-hour drive away as being close. Also curious if you notice the thin air and feel the effects on a hike such as that.

Most definitely. Any time I'm hiking over 9k or 10k ft, I slow down a bit. And over 12,000 ft on a hike like that one, it's bad enough that I will sometimes stop and rest on steep uphill sections. It's very easy to get out of breath, so I have to go slowly. I also find it harder to sleep the higher I go.

Interestingly, the dogs still run around like it's nothing.

Funny how Max will climb up on the ottoman. Maybe he is trying to give Opus his space.
