·We have had such a warm and dry autumn so far, that we were able to do a high country hike in Colorado today, including a section of the Continental Divide Trail near James Peak. This is pretty much unheard of for mid-October.
Max and Opus had a great time for most of it, but somehow Max tracked down a porcupine at 12,000 ft of elevation and ended up with a face full of quills that we had to remove. I honestly didn't even think porcupines lived that high. In the past, I've had to remove quills from our Boxers, but at 90 lbs, Max was an entirely different story. It took everything we had to hold him still and remove the quills, I won't go into details. For better or for worse, we were so preoccupied that we didn't get any photos of that episode.
