Brother Rocky raccoon got this thing where if he hears me going up the stairs he must beat me to the top. No matter where he is in the house he makes an insane dash to beat me. It’s particular funny when I make three or four trips upstairs because I forgot my keys, wallet or on a real bad day pants.

Each time he must get to the top before me, 99.9% of the time he does.

Maharishi got a mouse in the house again. I noticed he will make a meal of adult mice but baby mouses he tries to sneak in and play with them. Won’t kill baby mice. I guess he wants a pet.

Once again I had to catch the mouse and put it out (I can’t bring myself to kill a mouse they look kinda cute) however the little bastard bit me this time. He was a tiny thing I was surprised they have pretty strong jaws, I felt the bite.

Maharishi can find a mouse outside in 5 minutes and I try to check before he runs in but he has learned to hide the little creatures.

I’m waiting to see if my finger turns black and falls off. Seems fine so far this morning. Maybe I should get Maharishi a pet hamster cause I’m getting tired of catching his pet mice

check with your physician about precautionary vaccinations. No need to take unnecessary risks.
Rabies (low risk with mice), tetanus and what else.
Mice can transmit disease deadly to humans (encephalitis).
Good luck!!

Not sure if he's trying to do a Mother Mary imitation or a Garfield.

I think more a Garfield.

Maeve is feeling a bit sorry for herself...this was yesterday when we got her home from the vet:

She had surgery on one of her foot pads to remove debris - here are the x-rays:

She had an intermittent limp that just wouldn't go away, and although there was a small puncture wound on her pad, I couldn't find anything in it (I often remove partially imbedded rocks from her pads). The vet didn't either the first time he looked at it, but when it didn't go away we took he back and they did the x-rays.

Here's what they removed:

Bunch of gravel...this was only a portion of what they removed. Will take a couple of weeks to fully heal...

Son of a bitch it actually gets “encompassed” in the pads? I have a girl with a chiwawa (I know that’s not how you spell it but it should) with a limp we can’t figure out. She just came in with her dog last week I was going to post asking questions about the limp. Like I’m not sure how long we can monitor it see if it improves. Never considered imbedded gravel.

Yes. They were able to use dental x-rays to quickly see the issue...

Ooh dental X-ray smart one of the X-rays looks a bit like a human hand. Well glad he’s ok. I bet it’s the only time I could beat him in a race

What can stop it happening again / will it happen again? Is it booty time like the search and rescue dogs wear? Glad all is ok now. I have seen issues with grass seeds and greyhounds but not gravel like that.
