Hopefully things are on the up 👍

My buddy underwent surgery this afternoon and a large piece of bark was removed from his stomach which is good news but does bother me as I always keep a close eye on him when we are out and about 🙁
He seems to be progressing well and all being well he will be home tomorrow.
Not saying it’s good in general but knowing it was something he ingested rather than a tumor or something is good news (imo) so glad they found it. Sometimes bark looks tasty to me I’ve wanted to try some but I’m waiting until the supply chain falls apart and I’m real hungry. Maybe he is a prepper and he’s inspecting what is edible for when the world goes to shit, smart dog.

I just needs to clarify something. The damn phone woke me up as I’m on call, I was a bit overtired and passed out shortly after arriving home. I had to go out and rescue the brothers Grimm as my wife fell asleep on the couch with them outside. They went on my neighbors yard to mess with his dog but Maharishi always forgets how to exit my neighbors property so I walked over called him and he runs to me, I just reach over the fence and pick him up. I think the privacy shrubs prevent him from making the jump.

Anyway, prior to passing out I was speaking to a watch buddy and he said the brothers look like big rats. He said someone gave me river otters pretending to be cats. (They do kinda look like big rats tbh) but I told him we can insult each other about anything but you never insult a man’s cats (or any animal) I rescued Maharishi yogi and Rocky raccoon they were approaching a year old and may have been put to sleep.

So after I carried them in they celebrated their return home with a big fight. In regular photos I admit they kinda do look like rats but in proper lighting the my appear blueish. So if doogie houser the watch flipper is reading this you are on friend probation which means you must apologize to the brothers. It is not their fault they were born similar color to their prey. That is racist imo. They are just trying to survive like the rest of us beings.

Return home celebration fight, ya, ok they look like big mice

In proper lighting the blue shows up.

Happy days my buddy is now home 😁

We were able to bring him home this afternoon to quite an emotional family, he is eating his meals in small quantities along with his medications and bodily functions appear fine, early days but we are optimistic that all is well 👍

I was out today but we all had some family time in the sun again late on. Old boy just keeps on the routine no matter what, which is maybe a motto for life we can all work on. He is tough and we are all making the most of the good days... another motto for life maybe :0)..
He is teaching Molverine to Sunbath but unless we get her sheared I do not think the concept will catch on.

Really pleased to hear that - hopefully being a bit of a poorly boy might make him think twice about a bark BBQ next time... It is a lot for him to go through /glad all is ok, always a worrying time with tests and operations. No more barking up the wrong tree... 👍

Just catching up on this thread after a few days, @Alpha, and I'm relieved to hear that the young lad is doing better. Remarkable that a piece of bark could cause so much trouble, I generally assume that sticks are fairly benign. But I suppose that many things get harder to tolerate as we get older.

Glad he is on the mend. Did the vet say what happened to him is common? I remember my Shepard would sit out front snacking on sticks. Perhaps it was the size of the bark or the way it went down? I have no clue but glad he is doing well.

No mention as to how common but now some doubt if it was bark or perhaps charcoal, we have the offending object and I admit it looks like charcoal to me.
He is feeling a bit sorry for himself today but fingers crossed that will pass.

Oh this is such a pain in the ass I had to get a screen and these guys so fascinated with the attic they run up but the way their legs are built they have trouble coming down so I’ll be doing a rescue mission in an hour or so. Glad I trimmed their nails last week.

When Zelda came home for the first time in November 2012, I had been raking leaves. I don't think Lola and Piper knew quite what to make of the new addition.

Jumping into leaf piles seems to be a deep mammalian need. As students I/we did this too in the local park on our way home from a night out. 😗👍😁

One unhappy pup….Fergus had surgery this morning to remove a hematoma that swelled his right ear to more than an inch thick. He’s a tough little guy - well at 84lbs not really that little - and will get through this.

We call that "wonton ear." Very unpleasant.

Damn what’s going on. I brought the rat brothers to the vet. I was concerned about Maharishi panting but it turns out it’s rocky raccoon who has a heart rate of 110 (normal for a cat is 170) I had to run several tests to the tune of 800 bucks. It is possible he just naturally has a slow heartbeat I’m hoping this isn’t the beginning of a problem. You certainly wouldn’t think anything is wrong by his behavior
