Now that is a face I would not be messing with. Its a warning...
I often walk around the house with him stuck to one of my legs as he likes to practice the art of ambush on me. It is imperative I keep his nails clipped for my safety but of course he needs to have 7 claws on each paw and it is a true battle clipping each one, he does not make it easy.

Maharishi Maharash Yogi leaned how to reach down, open the draw and steal the bag of cat treats. Gonna need a safe for these things

A little bit from the NYTimes today:

"I sometimes think I could write my own book on what dogs, specifically, do for us - and I don’t mean the herding, the hunting, the guarding. I mean what they do for us emotionally and spiritually. My relationship with Regan would give me much of the material I need, and that material would include how dogs turn our attention toward, and heighten our appreciation of, nature.

"The centrality of an animal or animals in our lives reminds us of all the other animals out there, of how the world teems with remarkable and curious creatures, some of which our dogs and cats bark or hiss at, some of which they chase, a few of which they kill, at least if they’re sufficiently bloodthirsty and skilled.

"But dogs also connect us with nature because they invite and encourage us to venture with them into it. We spend more time outdoors and more time appreciating the outdoors, whether we’re in cities, suburbs, exurbs or rural areas.

"With [my dog] Regan, I take forest walks of a length and adventurousness that I wouldn’t otherwise, and when her nose twitches and her ears swivel at the smell or sound of something, I find my own curiosity piquing, my own senses sharpening. I hear the woodpecker that had escaped my notice just seconds before. I see the white tail of a deer almost obscured in tall grass. To follow Regan’s gaze is to be introduced to the turtle moseying over the lip of the creek, to the fat wild turkey waddling up a distant slope. They were always there, but I wasn’t around to note them, or I wasn’t surveying the landscape with the requisite reverence.

"But take the woods and the hikes out of the equation and Regan still reorients me toward the natural world. A walk with her around the block means breezes and bird song. In opening the door to let her out of and into the house, I notice a shimmering orange sun as it tugs itself above the horizon, a smudgy red one as it takes its final bow. I pause. I say a silent thanks. For the beauty of that. For the dog in the dimming light."

At the moment, too early for a walk:

Good UK weather and a bit of a garden day Easter breakthrough. Young girl was her hissing and elusive self with old boy at first (his fault for taking advantage and not welcoming her before she gained her full powers with open paws) Anyway the cat god seemed to smile on them and a bit of sunshine melting the winter blues has helped grow a bit of entente cordiale …. Rain is due Monday/ let’s see if the mood breaks ;0)
Due to her gourmand habits she still can’t have a AAA pass for the cat flap which might be a meat bone of contention still….

The wee boy turned one year old today, scary how time goes so fast.
I have to admit that I had absolutely nothing to do with the birthday celebrations 😀

Whose car is it anyways? My wife ran across this photo today of Edgar and our 1970 Vette. Sadly neither of them is still with us. On the bright side, Edgar's sister Emmy is still with us, as is our 1968 Vette. Like her brother, one of Emmy's favorite perches is the roof of a Vette.

Wait a minute. Edgar’s sister is still with you? From the same litter? Looks like in 1970 Edgar is full grown exactly how old is his sister. When sooper dooper hit 22 years old I started looking into how long cats can live I think the recorded recorded is 36 years old. You may have smashed that record.

edit: I love vettes when I was a young pup my neighbor built motors for racing cars at limerock race track I started getting into fiberglass bodywork although mostly I did radiators. I really liked that bodywork it was like artwork but I didn’t keep at it because Grateful Dead.

No, Edgar and the 70 Vette are of different vintages, ditto his sister Emmy. The cats came along forty something years after the Vettes rolled off the assembly line. Emmy is the last of three cats we had from the same litter. She must be about fifteen now.

Ah makes much more sense than a cat in its 50’s. I guess I read it to literally. Pretty calico. Cats are cool beings one of the brothers got out today I got very annoyed as I chased him down caught a quick glimpse of a full grown bob cat watching us. Looked like a solid thirty pounds. I don’t think rocky raccoon realized the danger he was in.

Cool a bobcat in the neighborhood. !!
My neighbor got a good picture of two of them, I got pictures of young ones but the full grown ones don’t like to be seen, or that’s how it appears, they move quickly once they realize you have seen them, in my case I asked him/her how it was doing.

Breaking pet news..... and its given me a bigger smile than an Ed White...
Young Girl had a complex start in life and we have been a bit of a shared foster home stop gap.... well yesterday it was agreed we should keep her and she is 100% ours / paperwork to be finalised next week. We/She are all super-happy. Old boy is giving me the sh-t eye what have you done look, but in fairness they have been rubbing along a lot better (but I dont think they will ever be besties). Not sure if she needs a grow bag/ I might need leg extension if she kept growing. The flip side of all this is a summer diet now looming for the lady (although she had got me wrapped around her paw). A very happy Easter here.

One of our shelter pets. I may be making a case to take in a cat I don’t think we have had one yet see how it goes.
