Seizure muppet hairy has me working overtime. For two days she wouldn’t eat or move. I’m trying to manage her seizures and I got a little freaked cause she was acting quite similar to super right before her end. Anyway I’m pretty sure hairy dope fiended me and as now only accepting human food. Even her favorite treats are now unacceptable and she will only eat tuna. Notice the three treats she is ignoring. Hairy has me figured out to a T yet she remains a mystery to me. I’m beginning to think she had a tumble down the stairs as she was in a lot of pain and she was born with legs that pop out of joint. She is ok now But will be seeing the vet Friday. Weird past month for many reasons. Hairy is a very expensive princess cat right now but adapted to the rather sudden onset of seizure D/O much better than I would have.
Are you giving her Phenobarbital? Nala, my Shiba, had a seizure at a little over a year according to the family we adopted her from and vet records. I’m giving her daily 7 drops of CBD oil. Based on recommendations from friends and reading, this seems to be working. Naturally my vet was apoplectic but I don’t care. It works particularly well with elderly pets according to friends.

Thanks for sharing. Hairy is one extremely charismatic cat, and it's great you are so diligent in looking after such a dignified animal. Good wishes to you both.
Well thank u and hairy thanks you. The past couple months have reminded me how expensive animal care can be. I’m fortunate I can bring them to the vet but I know a lot of people who have pets, are living on fixed income and I’ll be damned if they got hit with what I got hit with they just could not afford the care. And mind you I’m not a wealthy guy. I hate to tell you how many nail trimmings and “physicals” I do on peoples animals. I’m glad the doctors made the call that hairy isn’t a good candidate for brain surgery cause that would have been a hec of a decision. I’ve paid for a few peoples pets to see a vet but unfortunately it’s not something I can do regularly. For me with the massive vet bills I just cut back on spending. Like postpone doing my upgrade here for the ad free thing and don’t but a watch. For those people who rely on the food bank and SSDI what the hec do I tell them. I don’t want to turn a happy thread into a bummer but it’s something that really bothers me. I have about 300 dollars of meds left that sooper did not get to use. I Will be giving those to people in need.

Ok enough can’t be a bummer here. Hairy is home and doing fine. She’s doing fine today right and in reality man or beast all we have is today so it’s all good.

I love Shibas they really do look like they smile. I asked the animal neurologist about CBD oil he said they just don’t have enough peer reviewed study’s on it and legally he can’t recommend it. I think if you told him your experience he certainly would not tell you to stop he just can’t recommend it. Especially the dosage guidelines there is nothing for him to work with. I use phenobarbital (human mix which is dangerous as hec) and switch off with a compound from a vet pharmacy. Tbh if you find CBD oil works that’s great I am considering it but there is no info available how cats kidneys handle it. You probably have more room for error with a 50 pound animal than I do with a 7 pound one but if what I’m doing stops working or things get worse I will put CBD oil on board. It will get to the point where it won’t matter, I just want that to be a long time from now.

Thanks @Omegafanman today we ruled out brain surgery for the tumor due to her kidney disease. Too many unknowns about the recovery. The neurologist is convinced the audio seizure thing is caused by a tumor he mapped. She is doing ok though. Just the 4th of July was bad but I found a place for her to hide in the basement and in muffled the sound stopping the seizures.

There was a relatively attractive young girl with a bulldog at the vet waiting same time I was. Bulldogs name was Lucy and the young girl had tears in her eyes. She said Lucy (now 11) has been on a downward spiral since Lucy was ten. I told her about sooper dooper and how the one down side of taking care of a pet is watching them deteriorate with age and all you can do is try various band-aides to put off the inevitable. The young girl told me that is where she is at. At least she smiled when I said “I hope Lucy does well this visit.”
Another bad thing about this visit is I have to remove tuna from hairys diet. I did not know protein (high doses) was bad for cats kidney. Especially those with compromised kidneys. Damn hairy gonna be mad at me. I guess I’ll just slip it in a little here and there.

So hairy isn’t suffering or anything but due to her illnesses she is losing that pompous attitude I liked so much. As much as I’d love to I’m not going to add a puppy or kitten although I will double check with the vet if doing so might add too much stress and hasten the advance of Hairys medical stuff.
My wife actually said “if hairy outlives you I don’t know if I can do all the medical stuff you do for her.” Damn I hope that was not a premonition or something she had.

It is important they keep eating / can you flake a little bit over the food and find a compromise? I don’t think any of us follow the rules 100% with diet and also the rules do have a habit of changing. I know how hard it is to get the older cats eating (Young girl on the other hand would eat the plate if I did not take it up quickly ;0)

I appreciate it may not be to everyones taste and I confess it was not mine but after the love of my life stated her wishes the old boy is never far away and I am happy.

Everyone is different, it's what brings you comfort that counts. In our case, certain treasured ashes are an integral part of a beautiful section of garden, and I would not have had it any other way. Mrs O'D is the gardening expert/fanatic here, but I humbly think your plot is going to be beautiful, nice going.

@Alpha
The important thing is that you will be reminded of him every time you see the beautiful flowers (placing a lot of trust in Mrs Alpha here ).

In the UK it is hot…. And like when it snows (in fact when anything happens apart from grey and rain) we get excited….
I had 40-41c in the car and it was a bit oven like outside. Even sun lover Old boy was hogging the garage shade. Young girl is on the iced milk and letting it all hang out in the bush. She is not a sun lover, but also was not a huge water fan …but is now a light cold shower convert, Old boy guards the hose and gives you the sh-t eye …’ don’t even think about it’ look. Everyone survived and he is now on his (my) chair asking what is for dinner ;0)…

The grass will come right back next year. I have decided it one of the best plant types for a dog yard.

That is a great picture. Thera are now huskies for sale in my area. I love huskies some people find them annoying with that howl thing they do but I find it funny like they are talking to you. 200usd a puppy which I’m pretty sure is a very good price. I talked to the lady on the phone she is getting a lot of inquiries. This is driving me crazy as two of my favorite dog breeds pop up within a couple months of each other. The lady sent my wife a picture of one if she saved it I’ll post it as it’s cute as hec. My heart is saying yes get the darn puppy but I need to keep my focus on keeping hairy comfortable her illnesses have really taken me by surprise. She seems ok at the moment but she absolutely hates her oral medications and after I dose her she runs away and hides from me like I beat her.
