My old pal doesn't venture far these days but thankfully he is still healthy. Another old image of him enjoying holidays
Just got back from our favorite off leash dog park known as Thousand Acres. Thought we'd mention this back seat protector from Orvis. Geoffrey likes it as it's his space, a bit more comfortable than the bare seats. Not to mention limiting the wet and muddy mess that comes with an outing. Also keeps the little guy from falling into the footwell. Just an option. We're supposed to use a dog carrier for protection but never could do that. Something about a dog hanging it's head out the window that seems right. He does enjoy his comfort. Starting to feel a little sleepy myself...
Remi getting a pat, and of course Maeve didn't want to be left out, so she moved in, flipped over, and demanded a belly rub...
Hello, this is one of my favorite threads and I don’t want to add downer to it but I need a little help. I got a new girl on my case load, she has more problems than I can mention here but one of them includes as she stated,” my cat just lays in the corner I can hear it wheezing, I think it’s suffering I can’t afford a vet.” Now she has greater problems than this but let me tell you this cat issue can be a big one. For these clients the cats can be almost “therapy animals”. I already have calls into to the aspca and the humane society but I have been dealing with this 3 times already in the last six months. With covid closing so many places and the overload on the system getting help for animals for people who struggle financially is proving very difficult difficult. I ended up paying for one of them out of my own pocket but I have three cats of my own one of which is quite ill. This person is located in the north west of Connecticut. If anyone has any ideas I’d love to hear them. I have a schedule appointment with this lady Wednesday at which time I can see that cat myself but the way she described it on the phone I’m afraid of what I am going to see. I will hope for the best but I’m not expecting it to be pleasant.
Sorry can’t help as I am in the Boston area. But I am happy to chime in some money for the vet bill. Best
I can also help with the vet bill. You know how to get ahold of me. Unfortunately i can't help much more. Anything else you probably already know or you need someone here who is a vet. Wednesday is a long time to wait for a suffering animal. Hopefully the Aspca can help sooner. We have an elderly cat who we've been treating lately. Not wheezing but loss of weight etc. She had a bad tooth that caused a lot of issues. Lots of possible causes. A blood sample is more than likely needed. Thanks for helping her. Hopefully someone here knows something helpful. Dave
Thanks guys nice of you to say that. When I was on the ASPCA website one thing they suggested was using “waggle” I think that’s the name I guess it’s like a go fund me for animals in cases like this. I just need to be careful as if I get involved in setting that up it could be an issue with medical privacy. If I can guide her through setting it up on her own that might be ok. If not I will need her to sign releases of info for all kinds of things. I gotta tell you this is one aspect of my job that really bothers me when the clients I am working with have very sick animals. The animals are in many cases their main companions and all they can do is sit there and watch them suffer. I will see how bad things are Wednesday and hopefully between now and then the aspca will contact me.
By the way I did ask her how old the cat is she stated “only around 5” so it’s not like she is dealing with an elderly cat. That gave me a little more hope.
Yup gotta post a happy picture i am getting bummed out thinking too much of the other situation here is hairy very happy I’m home today getting lots of treats
That's good news, maybe she just needs some TLC. Although if she goes outdoors, there are a lot of contagious diseases for cats.
