Turns out he has 'Pancreatitis' but thankfully with medication through the night and this morning he is a lot brighter and has eaten some bland food and most importantly kept it down.
All going well he should be discharged later today.

I have a friend that had a Boxer/Ridgeback mix which got it (more than once) after picking up an illicit snack while on a walk.
