Honest opinion: Is wearing a Speedmaster like being branded as part of a herd?

After all, all of the Speedmaster enthusiasts on OF spend an inordinate amount of their time hating on Constellations and 1950s Audemars Piguet dress watches, right? So turn about is fair play!

As a Speedmaster enthusiast, I don't think I've ever hated to a Constellation, and I'm not sure what an AP dress watch looks like...

So let me ge this straight. When I joined WUS I was told I needed to print out my card and have it with me at all times. I didn't need to do this? So glad I didn't come off the 1 Euro to have it laminated.

If anyone needs one I have a few of the Timely Calendar Club Cards available.

Don't forget these :

Hey now, he's in the right to say what he wants about Speedmaster owners. After all, all of the Speedmaster enthusiasts on OF spend an inordinate amount of their time hating on Constellations and 1950s Audemars Piguet dress watches, right? So turn about is fair play!

Yes the tiny gold dress watch herd (TGDWH for short) is here also, but it happens to be a much smaller herd...that is not the fault of anyone who likes, owns, wears, or posts about Speedmasters.

I was reading WUS this morning and wondering why on forums like that people feel the need to justify their own preferences in watches by running down other people's choices. For a guy who claims to abhor this type of "WUS-like" behavior here, Mr. ulackfocus seems to start a lot of WUS-like threads, and make a lot of WUS-like comments in threads...

This may have started as a some kind of joke, but if it was ever funny it stopped being so a long time ago - now it's just tiring.

Technically the tiny gold dress watch lovers would be a drove, flock, or herd. Us Speedmaster fans would be a band or mob.

Not enough experience, you get the torch and shovel.

So I can use the shovel to dig myself a hole to stand in, and then warn others that it's there with the torch?

The source of my inspiration:

Hell, take a look at all his threads! In less than a 3 week span, look at all the fanboy love directed to his Maddox Holy Grail. Fight fire with fire.

Besides, I'm not the only one busting his stones.

Then don't open my threads. Voila!!!!

I think a more targeted post, entitled, "For the love off all that is horological, please STFU about your Speedmaster Automatic, literally no one cares", would suit our collective needs better. 😉

EDITED because it just isn't worth the time or trouble.

Dennis - it's worth the time or trouble to me, because all this stuff is not good for the forum in my view.

Last time I checked this is an Omega forum, so if you come here expecting there to be no Speedmaster threads, that's just unrealistic given the popularity of the model with Omega collectors. As has been mentioned before, if you dislike the ratio of Speedmaster threads to other threads, then start some other threads.

Continually spamming in the Speedmaster threads that others have started, to point out another Speedmaster thread, is not going to change the number of Speedmaster threads.

Yes, those threads by the guy who loves his Speedmaster were over the top and slightly annoying, but you adding even more annoying content with the belief that the "fight fire with fire" tactics you like will change things here is just tiring.

I know as a mod you "must" read all the posts or some such thing, but I doubt anyone is holding a gun to your head forcing you to be a mod. If it bothers you that much, I'm sure they could take you off mod status. Or maybe they can make a tiny gold dress watch sub-forum that can be your own little fiefdom, and you can banish all Speedmaster content from there as you wish.

Al, are you goading me into an argument? That's what it seems like. Have all the last words you want because, as I said, it's not worth the time or trouble to get into it since my "H, i t a S t? I t!" has become a running joke with nearly everyone else.

...... and frankly, nobody is holding a gun to your head either.

No, I'm just asking that you lay off the Speedmaster stuff, that's all. I don't actually think it's an unreasonable ask...

Well, if trying to ignore your comments is supporting your view that nearly everyone else likes your "running joke", please count me in with those who are tired of it. Why are you a moderator on a site where you insist on dividing the users?

1) You guys are reading WAY too much into it.
2) I'm not the only moderator with the "Imagine that!" schtick. As a matter of fact, I have never altered a title to add that phrase.

However, you both have valid points. If there are people without a sense of humor who believe I'm that influential, maybe I should stop "harassing" you poor babies.

+1. totally tired of it and seen in just a few months here new members get goaded into arguments by "jokes" and either leave or stop participating after not being after to "take a joke" because they supposedly lack "a sense of humor".

Yes, please stop harassing us poor babies without a sense of humor or newbies who don't know as much as you. we can't all be as witty and charming as you and we are too obtuse to understand your good-natured humor.
